Mandy Moore thought that she would have a hard time selling records. After all, her release dates were just behind Britney and Christina, who had both cemented their hegemony over the youth market. But with the extremely strong debut single 'Candy', and the unexpectedly enthusiastic response to the track by the public, she soon realized that she had nothing to worry about.

This single is one of last year's finest pop compositions, and you'll know exactly why when you hear it through. Usually, remixes of a song tend to drag (case in point : Janet Jackson's 'Remixed' album, which was easily last decade's most unnecessary CD), but this one holds up just fine. First of all, it has a catchy tune. Secondly, anyone whos seen the video that Mandy did for the song immediately remembers the arresting visuals, which guarantee a fun experience, no doubt.

'Candy' is immensely hummable and you'll find yourself singing it in the shower, while making breakfast, and while going to bed (Argh! ). Its not often that a song can get so deep in one's mind (in a nice way, I mean. 'Genie in a bottle', for instance, was a single that got in my head, but totally put me off in the process) and play itself over and over again. And that's the magic of a great single, I think. A must-have single, undoubtedly.

Note : 'Candy' also features in the motion picture 'Center Stage', though it isn't included in the soundtrack to the movie (one wonders why). Check out the brilliant choreography they matched to the song, danced by, among others, actress Amanda Schull.

Hey- This CD is the best. You can't get much better than Mandy Moore and I just can't get enough of it. It's got the slow, fast, and in between that make it what it should be, perfectly great!
