Book Description

CANDY STORE, by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Bella Andre, is a 25,000 word / 150 page sexy contemporary romance novella. Over 3 million books sold so far!

On the verge of losing her candy store, Callie Moore decides to blot out her troubles with a tall, dark, handsome stranger. Derek McNear isn't about to turn down a cute, curvy woman at his best friend's wedding reception. But the next day, when Callie discovers that Derek is the consultant she has hired to save her store, they find it difficult to concentrate on business...

Callie heard a noise in the hall and looked up through the thick, frosted glass of the commercial refrigerator. A tall man in a tux was standing just outside the door.

She tried to push herself back further into the shelves, hoping that her dark pink dress would help her to blend in with the crates of supplies. Maybe if she didn’t move, didn’t make a sound, didn’t even breathe, she could be left in peace with her memory of the taste of his skin and the beating of his heart on her lips.

Callie had spent the past ten minutes rubbing the goose bumps on her arms and trying to convince herself that she had had enough of Derek. But now that he was standing only feet from her—somehow she had known all along that he would find her and now he had—it was all she could do not to fling the door open, pull him inside the cramped space with her, and rip his clothes off.

At the same time, an annoying inner voice of reason was telling Callie there was no point to giving in to her baser needs. One night of mind-blowing sex wasn’t going to help anything. It wasn’t going to save her business.

And it wasn’t going to save her pathetic love life.

Although, she thought with a small upturn of her lips, it was guaranteed to be fun.

The doorknob turned and in the dim light of the refrigerator, Derek’s warm voice wrapped around her.

“I thought I might find you in here.”

Callie was both alarmed and aroused by his presence, by the way he filled up the room with his essence. The crazy mix of feelings made it hard for her to speak. Again.

“I, uh…” she said as he stepped into the refrigerated space with her.

He closed the door behind him with a soft but definite click, never once taking his eyes from her. His voice laced with humor, he said, “There’s no lock, but at least it’s private. We’ll just have to hope no one needs any milk.”

“Actually, I was looking for the milk, for, um, coffee for the reception.” Picking up a carton of milk, she said, “So now that I’ve found it, I…”

Derek took a step towards her and Callie, who felt as if she was the lioness being hunted by a needy lion, dropped the carton of milk on the floor. It broke open and spilled onto her shoes, but she hardly noticed the wet splash of milk.

All she could feel was his heat, as if he was drawing him to her via some sort of sexual infrared.

She could try all day, all week, all year, to tell herself she didn’t want what he was offering her. But it would never stop being a lie. Because she did need it. Because she did need him.

He pinned her against the shelves with one arm on either side of her. “You weren’t looking for milk,” he said, his voice husky, a breath away from her lips. “You were looking for this.”

And then he kissed her.

1.0 out of 5 stars It sucks January 22, 2013
By Sasha
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I started skimming soon after starting this book the plot is just unbelievable the characters are flat and just plain stupid. Character development never happened and things progressed too fast to be believable. H and h never spoke about anything substantial or seemed to do anything but have sex, so how do they fall in love? I stopped reading, it was a waste of time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Candy Store (An Erotic Contemporary Romance January 2, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What a romance ! You could sense the sexual being of both main characters. I'm sure this story includes fantasies that everyone has had at one time or another. The outcome was exactly what I had hoped for. The story was so easy to read that I read the whole thing in one sitting.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Even Close May 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I am always up for cute romance to read, but this book fell short of my expectations. The overall rating deceived me unfortunately. It was very sloppy. The plot had potential, but the author didn't take advantage of that. The writing, to me, was abrasive in the beginning. They had sex over and over, then they fell in love. The end. Character development never had a place in this novel. It was very shallow. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wanted a treat, got a trick March 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This little novella starts out pretty hot. It is one of those frustrating stories that could have been so much more, but just...wasn't.

Two people meet at a wedding and there is instant chemistry - okay, I can go with that. But then they get it on in a walk-in refrigerator and afterwards Callie, the heroine, decides she's embarrassed? Really? And the hero, Derek, "slipped on a condom he'd stashed in his wallet." He's head over heels in lust, wants to dominate her, body and soul. "Quickly slipping on a condom..." what? Did someone rewind the film? I doubt he has two of them...okay, let's read the rest of the story.

Okay, they meet again, more sex. Outline of story, more sex. Throw in a hint of angst/misunderstanding...and more sex. Hmmmm. The main characters have some development, enough to be interesting, but not quite enough to be three dimensional. Secondary characters are flatter than non-corrugated cardboard. And the insecurity! It's mind-boggling - the Hero is giving up his dream to get a "real" job. And drives off in his Ferrari.

This could have been good if there were more than an outline of a full-length story in-between the two main characters boffing like bunnies.

1.0 out of 5 stars Seriously April 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm a closet romance novel type woman...but SERIOUSLY? Totally NOT worth the read. There's a very, very thin plot line to follow, mixed with sex and the end is absolutly absurd...SPOILER ALERT....lets do something dirty and then I'll ask you to marry me while you're still hanging out on the floor. Not impressed. I've like other Bella Andre books (especially the Sullivan Series) but I wouldn't waste my time on this book if I were you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hi-hi...let's do it January 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I like this author. I don't like this book. There is zero character building before the two main characters begin ravaging each other, which, might I add, was in a refrigerator while standing in a puddle of milk. Now, if that ain't sexy. It was really hard for me to develop any kind of connection to these characters when it seemed like they didn't even know each other and then suddenly they were in love. Not to mention the fact that the man is rather an overbearing, spoiled brat who throws temper tantrums. It was funny, but not sexy. I find it interesting that the girl on the cover is a redhead, but she is a blonde in the book...not that that is really important. I love romance novels and I don't mind a spicy romance, but I just couldn't take this seriously. When the male character keeps demeaning himself by calling himself "the Candy King," it was a little difficult to keep a straight face. Others might love this, I just couldn't find enough substance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hit January 22, 2011
By Mrs. V
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the third book I've read from this author and I have to say that I'm happy to have new favorite author in my list. This book was so cute but hot at the same time. I love that there was no BS and straight to the point. Now it's time to buy the rest of her books.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst ever! January 29, 2013
By MnM
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was the worst book ever! I had to keep reading just to see how much worse it could get. Never mind that the story line was terrible, that there was no character redevelopment, and that there was little dialogue. I can almost even look past the fact that the characters were having sex within five minutes of meeting each other and then calling it true love. The worst was that the intimate scenes weren't even good. I burst out laughing when suddenly they're having sex after he is treating her for hypothermia. This was the worst story ever!
