5.0 out of 5 stars Great!
If you like cool WOMYN artists like Ani and the Indigo Girls, you will probably like Jen Schwartz! Her lyrics are good and best of all, she plays every instrument on the CD!

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring, bland, and overwrought
This CD has no reedeming qualities. The lyrics consist of self-pitying, overwrought sob stories. The songs themselves tend to blur into each other. You won't find yourself humming any of these tunes! Schwartz's voice is not displeasing, but neither is it particularly memorable. It's just mediocre, like the rest of this CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Diversity of style and a voice reminicent of early Janis Ian, June 23, 2001

I am a dj for a college staion and came across this cd there. From one track to the next there is sometimes so much contract that one cannot believe it is the same artist. Awesome cd, have enjoyed it very much.

This is by far the best blend of singing and instrumental use by one artist I have ever come across. I highly recommend to anyone that they should purchase this CD. Great CD from a new artist. A+

5.0 out of 5 stars Fan of Jens, July 20, 2000

Having listened to this CD recently. I was very surprised that someone is talented enough to play all the instruments & arrange all the songs. This is a piece of work that should get recognised for the commitment to actually be able to finish the album on ones own time. using every bit of lifes experience to produce a moving talented album.

5.0 out of 5 stars She did it her way, October 4, 2000

In an age of bubble-gum, record-industry-puppet pop and stale male guitar bands, this record stands squarely in a league of its own. How many musicians write, record, and produce their own material these days? And how many have the guts to strip themselves of convention and contrivance to create a raw, unaffected product? On Candy From a Stranger, Schwartz accomplishes all of this, with a grace and originality that is sorely lacking in today's mainstream music. Fans of thoughtful, independent music find a winner in Jen Schwartz.
