Great book on new crochet styles!!,

Wow, I loved this book at the first sight, believe or not. And it turned out as one of the best book I like to use all the time. It has an equal amount of boys' wears as girls', so I could make them for my son and daughter. The instruction and material list are quite clear and simple to follow on this book, and most of all, you can just find any yarn to make those cute outfits for the little ones. Great book!!

Bulky designs,

I pre-ordered this book hoping it would provide lots of ideas and inspiration. The designs are bulky and blocky, and I have two boys and I would not put them in any of these designs. I own the Lesley Stanfield and Betty Barnden books and love them.

not just another crochet baby book, but a COOK book too !!!,

the gr888 thing about this book is that it uses a variety of the newer and sometimes chunkier yarns in its projects. if you know a little about guage and crochet, then it is easy to extrapolate YOUR yarn into a very similar project or pattern and get WONderful results !!! it is often very hard or expensive to duplicate the yarns used in these books, so having the schematics in this book HELPS a lot too. i am very glad i bought this book, as i do lots of crochet for children for my shop, Lovley Things by Capable Hands.
there are projects in here for toddlers as well, and many of the patterns come multi-sized. as far as i am concerned, THIS is the best book out there for babies and toddlers !!!

i adore this book. in the last few years there has been a huge increase in the number of great crochet books available and this is among the best of them. there are large, full color pictures of all the styles, and nice glossy pages. the clothes are fabulous. i have about 5 projects lined up, including the "Spice Girl" coat made of Noro varigated yarn (2-1/2" granny squares!!) the Fringed pullover which is a sweater in hdc with granny squares along the bottom, as well as a hat and scarf to match, a delicate, confection-like mohair poncho and many more. this book is a very worthwhile addition for any crocheter, but especially one with kids, or grandkids.

Extremely disappointing,

I found most of the patterns offered to be blatant retreads of early 1970's fare. The granny squares and heavy yarns look cheap and dated to me, not cute. The eyelash yarn bolero and fur trimmed coat are worthy inclusions, but not worth the price of the book. Also I was quite surprised at the lack of finishing information. Correct seaming and finishing can make the difference between a beautiful, handmade heirloom garment and a "tacky homemade" item; surely some time spent explaining the best techniques would be worthwhile?

This book has been a staple in my crochet library for a couple of years, since its publication. I think it is a wonderful book, chock full of novel ideas. I have always been happy to select a pattern from it to make for other people's children, but now that I have my own 4-month old daughter, I am thrilled to make these things for her!

Love this book. I agree with the comment that more finishing information would be nice; and I also agree with someone's criticism that the patterns are chunky. But super-cute chunky! Depends on what you're looking for -- these are not a tiny-stitch prim-and-proper 1950's look (although that's sweet, too), but playful and stylish. I've made about a third of the patterns and appreciate that there are patterns for both boys and girls. Instructions are easy to follow; photos are great; good sizing information, etc. I made the sweater on the cover for a little girl who adores it, for example. They come together fast (hooray crochet!) and come out cute. I and a bunch of my friends and relatives thank you, Candi!
