I first heard these guys over on the Aquarius Records website, where they hyped the band as making the kind of music that turns everything into summer around it. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but, man, am I right. This music gives you a golden tan, a hot girlfriend and a light buzz. Not much help to say such things in a review, I guess, and I can just hear you saying 'Okay, I see you have a boner for this band, but what is the music actually like, buddy?' Well, it's like the amazon blurb for it suggests: scrappy sixties garagey pop attitude completely saturated with scrawny guy harmonies and driven a hundred miles an hour in a mustang convertible to the heart of the sun. It gives the finger to self-importance, but then invites it to the party, softens it up a bit, and the two probably end up necking by the end of the night. Perhaps you are steeped in other genres of music, the shelves weighing down with nordic death metal, pelvis-grinding club music, hemp-garbed acoustic strum, brain-bending binaural beats, or eye-crossing experimental drone. It doesn't matter. EVERYONE has space on their shelf for things that 'don't fit'. Or maybe this DOES fit. Can you take the risk? You might think you're too cerebral for The Makes Nice, or too hardcore, or too pop, or too old, or too whatever, but you are not. It's time to let go, friend. Why are you holding on so hard?

In sum, we should all be deeply ashamed that this album has somehow dropped out of print - maybe that will change. Do your part and snap up a used copy, though. Then write to important people in your community to correct this sorry state of affairs.
