5.0 out of 5 stars A new way to look at the birth of Jesus!
All of us are looking for new traditions we can start at holiday time. Helen Haidle has given us a look at the candy cane that can bring the full meaning of Christmas into our homes every Christmas. It is the story of the candymaker who wanted to be able to give to his customers a candy that would represent the birth of Jesus. Between the candymaker and his...

1.0 out of 5 stars More nonsense
If you need to resort to a story made up of whole cloth to support your beliefs, then by all means read this book. It has neither truth nor wisdom to it and can be disproved with the mere click of a mouse in a search engine.
The genuine mystery of Christ is why does an omnipotent mystical being need to resort to lies and fabrications to justify his existence. Keep...

This review is from: The Candymaker's Gift: The Legend of the Candy Cane (Hardcover)
Between the candymaker and his granddaughter, we now have a sweet treat to help us remember. I will read this book every year to both my children and grandchildren.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Candymaker's Gift provided very worthwhile reading., December 13, 1998
This review is from: The Candymaker's Gift: The Legend of the Candy Cane (Hardcover)
The Candymaker's Gift put spiritual truths into a charming story of the origin of the candy cane. It focuses on the importance of Jesus, the one whose birth we celebrate at Christmas. The scripture that is presented is challenging and possibly life-changing.

The book is in EXCELLENT condition. Can't believe it was used before! I bought it as a gift for my sister and she loves it. There were no stickers, no writing, no scuff marks, NOTHING!The dust jacket had a little wear and tear, but you can take that off and the original cover is still perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Share the Gospel in a "sweet" way!, November 29, 2011
This review is from: The Candymaker's Gift: The Legend of the Candy Cane (Hardcover)
As the author of this book, I wanted children to enjoy the legend (no one knows who really created this candy) and then to be able to share the meanings that can be found in a simple candy cane. I've shared it with hundreds of children and they have gone out and shared it with the bullies on their playground, their basketball teammates, their neighbors, etc. Telling others the meaning of the candy cane is a "sweet" way to talk about Jesus, and we haven't seen anyone yet who didn't want the candycane that was offered to them, along with a brief explanation. :)

The book arrived promptly and in better than expected condition. It was everything we wanted in a story, meaningful, thoughtful, and hopeful. Perfect for Christmas. A great addition to our collection for advent. Both of our girls (aged 4 and 6) loved it and shared it with their classes.

The genuine mystery of Christ is why does an omnipotent mystical being need to resort to lies and fabrications to justify his existence. Keep to the Nativity legend and leave these types of falsehoods alone, they make churches seem sillier than they need to be.
