I was having numbness in my hand after long rides. My LBS recommended these. I was hesitent at first because $60 for essentially what looked like two rubber grips seemed a bit steep. I went home and researched these and could not find any negative reviews or any forum comments with anything negative to say about these. Went back to the bike shop the next day and paid full price for the convience plus I wanted them that week for a ride.

Now these can be used with any type of grips. For regular grips you just have to cut the ends off, slide your brake/shifter levers down and install. I opted to buy new ODI locking grips for the cleaner install. The bar end replaces the second ODI clamp that would normally hold the end cap on. They lock into the grip the same way the clamp does, which is nice. I beleive this design is specific to the Ergon Controll 2 and not the regular Ergon Control. (I uploaded a pic)

Now there is one minor con about this feature that did not apply to me but worth pointing out. If you wanted to attach these to grips that have a fancy logo across them such as OURY's, the logo may not be displayed at the optimal position. See because the bar end is attached to the actual grip when you rotate your bar ends up or down, or however you like them, the logo on the grips will re-position themselves as well. This doesn't take away any functionality of your grips but aesthetically this would annoy some people so I thought it was worth mentioning. You could also opt to not attach the bar end to your grips and clamp them on seperately, but that takes away from there design and makes you use the second ODI clamp which would look a little funny.

I've logged a few hundred miles on these so far and I absolutely love them.

Comfortable, easy to install and have a rubbery grip that you will not slip off of. The only down side is that they do not really change your riding anlge much. They are not that big and when you grab them, you pretty much just twist you wrists so that they are up and down but your arms are still at the same angle to the bar. Good for a change in grip, but don't expect a much of a change in riding position other than having your arms a little farther apart. They look good on the bike. Not like they are some ugly add on.

I have moved to a commuter bike with an upright position and nearly straight bars after riding road bikes with drop bars for decades. On short rides of ten miles or so, the straight bars are marginal, but on my typical rides of twenty to seventy miles, my hands want to move around for comfort. Basically, the Cane Creek bar ends double the number of hand positions from one to two. They mount easily, and feel extremely secure. They are quite comfortable and don't seem to unduly delay my hand to brake time. They also look kind of cool. But I wanted more hand positions, so I purchased a pair of Ergon GC3 Gripshift Bicycle Handlebar Grip. These add three more positions. I look more like a Fred, but my hands are happier.

I just attached these to my straight handlebars. I bought them in conjunction with some large Ergon Rohloff grips, so that I would be able to change the angle of my wrist on longer rides. These grips are excellent, and in a way mimic the feel of 'hood brake grips' on drop handlebars. My one reservation is that I would like to see them made slightly larger, to better fill the hand.
Instructions for mounting are clear, and can easily be done by a 'do-it-your-self' garage mechanic.

These are the top of the line, when it comes to bar ends! I have had other bar ends in the past, and they don't compare to cane creek! Cane Creek bar ends are just long enough to be comfortable, but not too long to catch a stray branch or vine.... They also work well protecting your fingers going through single track, and dealing with traffic in the city! You will be very happy with these bar ends. RIDE HARD!!!!!!!!

These are pricey, but they are the best bar ends I've tried. They fit my hands well, allow alternate positions, are small enough not to snag brush, and lock on to the bars so they do not turn. They also integrate with my lock-on grips to give a Class A fit and look.

The Cane Creek Ergon Control II's are by far the best bar ends I've owned. They provide an extremely relaxed and confortable grip. Putting your control dead center on your handle bars, instead of above it as most bar ends do. They are very discrete due to the way they attach to the bar. With not to much over-hang above or below they won't get in the way of your hands. They'll just be there when you need them to climb, or just need a change of hand position on extended rides... A note on durability: these bar ends will take a beating as if nothing ever happened. I highly recommend these to anyone who want a comfortable,low-profile, and durable bar end for their bike.

Lot's of people don't like bar ends becasu they tangle on your clothes and may hurt you on some nasty falls. There are benefits to then, too - on climbs they make it more confortable. This specific model has a nice soft rubber cover that feel like gel. Because i is grippy, it will tangle on the clother like nothing else, but that a price to pay. It is not a must have, but if you like bar ends these are the ones for you.
