5.0 out of 5 stars Canine Colorado
This is an excellent reference for those of you that like to go everywhere with your dog. It really does a good job of talking about the different kinds of trails in Colorado, which are good for hiking, backpacking, mtn. biking, and skiing, as well as which have lots of water for the dogs. I highly recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hiking with Your Dog
The book has wonderful hikes to take your dog and I like the fact that it lets you know whether they need to be on or off leash. The problem I see, without having used the book yet, is that the publisher's date may outdate doggie hotels, some hikes, etc. These places come and go. I find it unnecessary to give names of doggie parks and spasL. We want to hike and maybe...

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for dog owning Coloradoans, January 23, 1999
You must have this book if you travel in Colorado w/your dog. Gives information such as trails that are dog friendly, lodgings that allow your pup, and that dreaded "I'm in Durango, its midnight, and my dog is sick" information that we all hope we don't need, but its nice to have.

5.0 out of 5 stars terrific and long overdue, December 16, 1998

Cindy Hirschfeld has done a great job, covering all major areas of the state (including some out-of-the-way escapes for the agoraphobic pooch). Her information is concise and for the most part complete and accurate. One word of caution -- call before simply showing up at lodgings with your pet. I found several entries in Cindy's book where pet policies had changed since publication. Cindy also indicates for each area where emergency and routine veterinary services can be obtained -- a WONDERFUL and thoughtful addition. This book is a must-have guide for anyone planning to travel in Colorado with a furry family member (as my beagles will attest).

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 - Paws Up!, January 15, 2000

My three Canines highly rated this book with the one exception that some "dog approved" places have since changed policies accepting our best friend. More travel with pooch books need to be written.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book; needs lodging update, June 19, 2001
By A Customer
We used this book to plan a great spring 2000 dog vacation. The hiking rating system is excellent, as are her other suggestions on what to do. Many of the lodgings, however, had changed hands or policies. Still, we were able to find great places to stay with our dog.

This review is from: Canine Colorado: Where to Go and What to Do with Your Dog (Paperback)
It not only tells you all the places you can take your pup, but it also tells you where you can NOT. Keeps you from having to wonder about places. List which 14ers dogs can handle, also info on having them on or off leash, does the hike have water or not. This book isn't just about taking your dog with you, its about having your dog be very happy and comfortable. Everything you need to know is here!

5.0 out of 5 stars Was written with a sense of humor, May 6, 2007

This review is from: Canine Colorado: Where to Go and What to Do with Your Dog (Paperback)
Sense of humor comes through and it is informative. Details of trails are mentioned in here that may not be mentioned anywhere else and are good to know so you are not surprised my them once you are out on the trail. I have not been able to hike any of the trails in the book yet but have a good idea where I am gonna start after reading.
