Book Description

August 2004
Dogs seem to be happy all the time, with no worries, no cares, living every day to the fullest. How do they do this? In this moving and uplifting work, W. R. Pursche examines how dogs live and translates their way of life into lessons for us to live by.

Unlike other negative ‘rules’ that are often thrown at us ("Don’t do this! Don’t do that!") these lessons are all appealingly positive. More than just a book of quotes or stories, and filled with examples from everyday life, "Lessons to Live By: The Canine Commandments" plainly shows how we can all benefit from the wisdom of dogs.

Whether or not you have a dog or even like dogs, these memorable lessons will provide you or someone you know with a straightforward and uncomplicated approach to living a happier and more fulfilling life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much more than a 'dog book'..., November 24, 2004
This review is from: The Canine Commandments (Paperback)
This is much more than just a 'dog' book. I got one as a gift and after reading it (in one sitting) I ordered 5 copies to give as gifts. Everyone I gave the book to simply loved it, including the three people that did not have dogs. If you like books that make you feel good about life (without being sappy) you will really enjoy this book. If you also like dogs you will probably love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, inspirational book!, October 14, 2004
This review is from: The Canine Commandments (Paperback)
One of the best 'inspirational books' I have read. Not at all preachy like some, this books uses dogs as a way of highlighting inspirational themes. It is similar in some ways to "The Tao of Pooh" but without the focus on Zen. I've given this as a gift to both dog owners (who really love it) as well as people who don't have animals.
In addition the author is donating the proceeds from the book to animal rescue organizations, which is a nice touch.

Artful (Fairfax, VA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Canine Commandments (Paperback)
This is a great book. I picked it up because I'm a dog lover, but the book is really so much more than that. Written in a simple and straightforward way, the author makes some very insightful points about life. Life is about making the most of each day and treasuring the people we love. I found it very uplifting and motivating. Who knew you could learn so much from dogs?!
