I read several breeding books before I found this one and I found this one to have the best advice of them all. The lady is an RN midwife that works in a hospital delivering human babies. She did this for years before learning to be a dog breeder and becoming friends with a vet that is an absolute expert in canine midwifery that taught her a thing or two that's for sure. Her medical experience plus what she's learned from whelping puppies combines for one extremely objective, helpful book that is still down to earth and understandable for anybody.
The companion book, Puppy Intensive Care, is also helpful and its DVD shows how to do sub Q IV and insert a feeding tube.
NOW, faced with just that eventuality, I started randomly doing research on the internet and in our various handbooks. I was so panicky, and there was so much information out there that I became more confused than ever. I was even finding contradictory advice in my searches and didn't know how to determine whose advice would be best to follow. When it became obvious that birth was imminent (in the next few hours), I began searching for a downloadable book that would be short and authoritative enough to give me the most pertinent, informed advice in the clear, accessible manner I required. Myra Savant-harris provided that and in the very nick of time. A former obstetrics nurse, she has the necessary knowledge and an accessible style that can inform and embolden even a nervous ninny like me. She took me step by step to an understanding that was absolutely invaluable. Since I had no way of knowing just how much time I had left before going into action, I had to read the book backwards. But that worked just fine since the book is so well organized. It was as if someone stepped in and took my hand, guiding me calmly through what had seemed like such an intimidating and confusing process.Read more ›
I can't say enough good things about the book.

A lot smaller than I expected, but it did have a lot of information in it :3Published 2 months ago by SamanthaXD
I received this book today and read it - it's only 76 pages. I was expecting more book and more information, but it is practical. Images (B/W) are not clear and of poor quality.Published 2 months ago by Anne M.
Nice, short, but to the point, reference guide. Glad I decided on this book when looking for a book on dog breeding.Published 2 months ago by In Search of the Truth
