major healing in < 12 hrs. I think jesus invented these.,
After spending a full week in pain, to the point where 6-8 Advil a day made little difference, I read reviews for this product (in a different size) and decided to give it a try.
The box says it works best to prevent sores from forming, but it worked wonders on my fully-developed canker sore, which was about the size of a dime on the inside of my lower lip, and sliced through the middle so that nerve endings were exposed -- (sorry; I know that's really gross, but seriously, it was excruciating). After 2 hours I felt a numbing relief; after 6 hours I could tell the canker sore had started to heal over; and a few hours after that, the sore had developed a protective blister-like covering over it, and I could actually eat solid foods again after a week of Starbucks and Jamba Juice (boy was I hungry and cranky this week, esp. since even drinking through straws hurt). I was diligent about putting the discs consecutively, using 5-6 in 10 hours -- the amazing recovery is well worth it. This product actually heals canker sores. The last product I used (Orabase by Colgate) actually aggravated the sore because it was essentially like applying nail glue to the raw surface -- incredibly painful and traumatic when it dislodged, which it did after 30 minutes at best. Note: Cankermelts are not a liquid, but Necco Wafer-like discs, ranging from about 3/8" to 5/8" in diameter. Some may find them a bit awkward to manuveur at first, esp. if your sores are pretty small, but I encourage you to read the directions carefully, and give them a shot. In addition to actually healing the sores, the active ingredient in these are licorice root, not 2-octyl cyanoacrylate (aka nail glue) like in Orabase. I'll take a mild licorice taste over toxic glue any day. Whoever invented this product deserves a medal, or, at the very least (seeing as no "healer of disgusting canker sores" medal exists), to sell a billion of these. I'm stocking up on them like Cold-Eeze.

Most effective treatment I've found.,
By I've tried all of the over the counter treatments. Some of the other products help with the pain, but this is the only one I have found which TRULY shortens the course of the canker sores. Sometimes they are painful on application, if the sore has progressed too far, but the pain goes away pretty quickly, and soon becomes much less than it was before applying the disc. This isn't a problem if I catch the sore early. No matter how bad the sore, and I had some almost as big as the disc, they are either completely gone or nearly so within three days, without fail. I can't recommend Cankermelts enough. Please try them, as I'm sure you will be impressed. I also want everyone to know about these, so that they don't end up going off the market. I don't want to live without these little things!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cankermelts Discs, 18-Count Boxes (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
After 30 years of suffering from canker sores, I was delighted when I discovered these things three years ago. They really do work ... I mostly just wear them at night and let them sit on the sore for eight hours while I sleep, and they turn what would be a 10-day sore into a 2-day sore. It's wonderful.
Unfortunately, I think Amazon is confused. The last time i ordered the product from this page, I got the "new, transparent formula", which has a different box than the one shown. You can see the different box for the transparent formula on the manufacturer's website: [...] The transparent formula doesn't taste like licorice - which is a plus - but it also doesn't work nearly as well for me. So now I'm confused, and I don't know what to buy on Amazon to get what I want, because the box on this page *looks* like the "classic brown" formula box, but that's not what I got when I ordered, and the Amazon catalog doesn't distinguish between the classic brown and the new transparent anywhere.
