Biography

The American blues rock band Canned Heat, were formed in 1965 in California. They are probably best known for Al 'Blind Owl' Wilson's distinctive high pitched vocals, singing "Goin' up the Country" and "On the Road Again".

They released their self titled debut album after an appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, but it was their follow-ups that brought them their greatest success.

great sound!!! robert lucus is great.i think the "bear"and the "owl" would be proud.jimi hendrix studied henry vistine and now that he's gone too we will miss him.canned heat has gone through many changes in members but the one thing that has stayed consistent is that ALL the new members were big fans of the band before they joined, including robert lucas.this CD is well written and has a great sound; ain't no madonna here!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Boogie/Blues masters from the 60's. A killer., February 5, 1999

Canned Heat was one of the fourmost boogie/blues bands from the 60's. These guys are for real. They lived the blues. This is an excellent CD and I would recommend listening to other CH CD's as well if you are a blues/rock lover as I am. This is a superb set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitive Canned Heat, February 4, 2008
This review is from: Canned Heat Blues Band (Audio CD)
I cannot for the life of me find a thing wrong or amiss with this cd. I've been playing it for years and always love it. I know all about Canned Heat's tragic and illustrious past, and I'm not knocking those old records (most of them were great); but, it should be said by someone - the Canned Heat albums beginning with "Reheated" straight to the present - leave the old ones in the dust. Leaving behind the excessive reverence for the past (if you can, and you know who you are), there's one thing that has never changed about this band. And that is their love, respect and sheer mastery of the blues. This particular album is quite possibly the band's greatest work so far. It would seem quite odd for anyone who likes the blues to dislike this cd. And 'Iron Horse', the third track, is hands-down the single greatest Canned Heat blues boogie to date. Check out "Blues Band" by Canned Heat, one of the greatest bands on the planet.
