Product Description

Kidnapped by Cannibals! Raised to Eat Human Flesh!

Revenge is a dish best served raw for Dr. Taylor, whose young daughter is dragged deep into the jungle after his family is viciously attacked by a tribe of cannibals while on an ill-fated adventure in the Amazon Basin. Years later he returns to this jungle hell to retrieve his little girl - only to find that she's grown into the golden-haired goddess of the malevolent man-eaters who murdered her mother! Can Taylor dethrone his feral daughter before she makes him the main course in her royal banquet?

CANNIBALS is a gut-munching gorefest from infamous director Jess Franco (VENUS IN FURS, SUCCUBUS), featuring Al Cliver (ZOMBIE), Robert Foster (SADOMANIA), Lina Romay (WOMEN BEHIND BARS), and savage blonde bombshell Sabrina Siani (CONQUEST). Also know as MONDO CANNIBALE and WHITE CANNIBAL QUEEN, this grisly gastronomic delight is served up completely uncut and uncensored for refined palates and strong stomachs only!

If you like cannibals that look distinctly, well, European, this is the movie for you. Most cannibal movies of the time in which they were made (Late 70's, early 80's) seemed to at least pick actors (or non-actors) for their cannibals that looked the part, these folks look as cannibalistic as Adam & the Ants. The story, such as it is, is that a group is attacked by these cannibals (on a boat, at sea) and while the mom is eaten dad is taken prisoner, loses an arm & his young daughter, and then goes in search of her later. He finds the tribe, and his daughter, all grown up and immodest for visitors. Dad then must battle her prospective mate for custody. The gut munching scenes in this are a bit less realistic than your average cannibal chow-down, and at times it looks like the actors (or non-actors) are eating minute steaks off the bodies of their victims. Franco is generally pretty trashy at best but thankfully he didn't make too many like this one. 1 star out of 5, bleah.

but it certainly isn't the worst. actually, i really enjoyed Cannibals. occasionally the slow motion effect feels overused, but this movie lived up to my 70's Italian cannibal film expectations.

could have been more gore and more nudity, but that's the way with 90% of the movies i view. yeah, nothing wrong with Cannibals, especially for $10 or around that neighborhood. B+

I am obessed with The Cannibal films, all of them. Good and bad, I will watch them all. Here we have Jess Franco's idea of what the Cannibal film should be like. Not a whole lot to review. The cannibals look like your neighbor, slow gore shots, nudity, and terrible dubbed voice over. Im not too hard to please, Blue Underground did a cool interview with Mr Franco and is worth picking up.

If I were you, pick it up now before its worth 100 bucks because Franco is now Dead. RIP.

I own a lot of horror movies -- some great, some good, some terrible. This one is so bad, it makes "Plan 9 From Outer Space" look like an Oscar winner. Even if you were wasted, you'd have trouble taking this one seriously (and maybe that's the key). Which is why I gave this film two stars: You actually enjoy it more if you try to spot all the mistakes and inconsistencies, rather than trying to be scared or grossed out.

Sure, it's from end-of-the-Disco-era 1980. But I believe that even in the Jimmy Carter era, "Cannibals" would have been (ha ha) hard to swallow. Thirty-five years certainly hasn't helped this movie. Maybe the film is now best used as a "things to avoid" lesson for beginning film students. Or maybe we're looking at another "Rocky Horror," where you're supposed to poke fun at all the things that are wrong. And, boy, there are a lot, such as:
-- The "Amazonian" cannibals, who have beer bellies, wear gold watches and wedding rings, have groomed mustaches, and wear all sorts of mismatched face paint. One even has a peacock painted on his body...when the heck would a tribal from the Amazon jungle have seen a peacock?
-- But hey, these are special cannibals: They can swim underwater to sneak up on you, then get out of the water completely dry.
-- They're also fairly picky. They have no problem literally eating women alive, but they prefer to cook the men, or ignore them altogether after killing them.
-- Speaking of women: You have to appreciate the tribe's "White Goddess," a little girl who is kidnapped by them and raised as one of their own. Not only does she not practice cannibalism, she also goes from a sandy brown-haired little girl to a platinum blonde bombshell in eight years' time.
