5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome pole holder!
I bought 2 one for each corner of the rear of the boat, they are very heavey duty with a wide range of adjustments,I use open face reels that work great with the pole holders, but you can use any kind of reels with these holders.Great price also Ive seen them selling for $30 and on Amazon I bought 2 for that price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy but I can't get it to hold a spinning rod.
I purchased this item to use on my kayak. I mounted it outside the cockpit far enough forward as to not interfere with paddling. I screwed the base into the plastic shell of the kayak. It seats firmly. The first rod I tried was an old casting rod with the reel on top of the rod. This holder held the rod OK. Later I got out a good spinning rod and reel and tried to...

Later I got out a good spinning rod and reel and tried to use this holder. The spinning reel hangs below the rod and I tried every way I could to get it to work - there's not enough room between the holder and the deck of the kayak for the reel. If anyone has discovered how to use this holder to effectively hold a spinning reel, I'd like to hear from them. Otherwise, it works with the reel on top, it's sturdy and the price is OK.

Only reason this didn't get a 5 star is because they don't give you screw to mount it. Otherwise, these blow Berkley and others away. Extremely tough, and well made.

Perfect design for usage with either bait casting or spinning rods. Extremely sturdy and well constructed. These rod holders are a great addition to my boat.I also use the Cannon Rod holder extensions with the rod holders when needed for that extra height. I think these are an excellent product and buy.

Bought both Scotty and Cannon rod holders recently. The Cannon seems better designed on functions, but the finishing and quality isn't as nice as Scotty. Both are very solid tho.

I purchased two of these for my 12 foot inflatable. They are very good quality. I mounted them to a small piece of wood and then attached some u-bolts to the wood so I can secure them on other boats as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works really well, July 22, 2011

Works great but is a little bigger than I expected. It sits a little tall in front of the cockpit on my kayak but it doesn't get in the way at all. I mounted mine to a thin piece of treated lumber and ran it under the bow straps so it sits right in front of me and is easily removable. I didn't want to drill holes in my hull.

Couldn't be happier. Bought two for trolling with a square stern aluminum canoe because clamp-ons were too bothersome and weak. These are just the right size, solid as a rock, built to last, and side mount allows for easy stowing below rail height for transport and storage without removal. Added a short bungee cord to prevent loss and holes are provided. Loaded with purposeful details, adjustments easy in the dark by feel, and all my rod/reel designs accommodated. Amazon made buying easy.

Bought two of these for the back corners of my 17' Fishing boat and they look great. I am gonna use these for trolling. Haven't used them yet due to lakes water is too high. But when I take vacation they will be used ALOT!!. Heavy duty and very well made. Steal for the price and if you need rod holders for boat then get these. They are worth every cent. Its silly to pay more when you can get these here. Awesome!!!
