i got these to replace the plastis ones i have been useing for my lite bite slide divers(dipsy,s) the ratchet up feature is alittle stiff. but they still work great for diver rods. just ratchet them up and lift the rod out of the holder. never lean out over the side of the boat to pull your rod out of the holder
