The DVD was in great shape.

Even the bloopers during the end credits aren't funny, although in the first movie they were.

I love these cannonball movies. They sure don't make them like this anymore. Stunt man turned director Hal Needham (Smokey & The Bandit) has done just as an amazing job of casting this movie as he did with the first. Returning from the first CB movie is Burt Reynolds as J.J McClure and Dom DeLuise as Victor with the alter ego of Captain Chaos. Just by reading who is cast in this movie is unbelievable...

- Burt Reynolds (Smokey and the bandit)

- Dom DeLuise (Many Mel Brooks films)

- Frank Sinatra (Rat Pack)

- Dean Martin (Rat Pack)

- Sammy Davis. Jr. (Rat Pack)

- Jamie Far (Clinger/M*A*S*H)

- Marilu Henner (Taxi)

- Telly Savalas (The Dirty Dozen)

- Susan Bach (Daisy/Dukes Of Hazzard)

- Jackie Chan (Shakespeare in love)

- Shirley MacLaine (Around the world in 80 days)

- Tony Danza (Who's the boss)

- Jim Nabors (Gomer Pile)

- The guy who played Jaws in the Bond films... and many, many more

The movie is great, just as great as the first one. Some people will dismiss it because they don't like to watch a great cast of actors having fun. Or they're too focused on their favourite actor who is not the star of this film. For me, it's a classic, one of the best sequels ever made and a 4 star movie in my book.

However, where there is good praise at first comes the bad news. Unlike the first DVD for Cannonball run, this one has been totally ignored by Warner. There is nothing about this DVD that makes it stand out or make it worth replacing that old VHS copy. The quality is not really good; it has speckles in many places, noticeable ones. The sound is a bit shoddy now and then. There is no bonus features, no nothing: Just the movie.

All comments about the film aside, whether you love it or hate it, I have to say this is the worst DVD I ever bought. No extras. The print of the movie is poor, grainy. And it's not even in widescreen. It's an obvious video transfer. Very disappointing.
On the other hand the movie is dire. But this is a good thing. Canonball Run 2, along with its predecessor has kitch value. I mean Daisy from the Dukes of Hazard in a spandex jumpsuit?! That's worth the price of admission alone.

This is a hilarious movie about a cross-country road race. Burt Reynolds and Dom Deluise make a perfect pair as an egotistical playboy and an insecure fat man. Together, they pair up with a duo of fake nuns and pursue the million dollar jackpot that awaits them in Connecticut. This is a pretty tame movie, except for the grotesque moment in which hot stud Burt has to make out with grandma psychic, Shirley McClaine! Even worse, Marilu Henner, a hottie since her days on Taxi, wants to jump in the back seat with...DOM DELUISE!!!EEEEWWWWWWWW!If you can move past the horrible romantic pairings, then check out the rest of this movie, which is actually pretty funny. The original Rat Pack shows up (including Frank, sans Jerry and Joey, thank heavens)for a cameo, and the soundtrack boasts a theme from Menudo. That's right - Menudo! If you don't believe me, just buy this movie and see for yourself! Luckily, Ricky Martin did not include the theme on his later albums, but that's for the music department to discuss. One thing that really irked me though - even though it's a cross-country race, the movie which was shot entirely in Tucson, AZ, never seems to LEAVE Tucson! You can tell by looking at the mountins in the background. Or better yet - check out the ending credits, which admits it was shot entirely in Tucson. I guess Dom wanted the cast and crew to stick around for all the great tasting Mexican food we serve here! By the way - I was drunk when I watched this movie.

Look sure it's not going to win awards and it's not the best looking movie around but it's a lot of fun. i look to a movie for fun and not all of them must high budget, twisted plot line type to do it, burt and these stars had fun making it and it shows. plus there if a monkey in it and people like Jackie Chan in a early role, it has corny jokes you know are coming but you still laugh i mean who can not laugh when you have Dom, Burt and sammy davis all dressed up in womens clothes dancing?
get this movie is you want a fun light hearted movie to enjoy.

Every review i read about Cannonball Run II is negative, but i totally disagree. This movie is cram packed with one liners and has a cast that you just can't beat - a bunch of hasbeens maybe, but GREAT hasbeens. Maybe you have to have a sick sense of humor, as i obviously do, but i and my family love this film. I will admit that it's corny and sometimes just plain stupid, but if you're not looking for a deep storyline and you just want a funny show this is a great choice. It does help a bit if you have seen the first Cannonball Run because there are inside jokes that you may not catch otherwise. Maybe it's a generational thing and younger viewers won't appreciate the cast and even some of the jokes, but i could sit and watch it with my father and both break a stitch laughing.

When the first movie was released in 1981, I was 9 and my MOM took me to see it. By this film's release, I had learned a few things, and this one was much funnier. I did suffer from the sequel-itis problem but not to the extent of say Star Trek III:TSFS. The film looked better, more polished, and included THE RAT PACK!!! As far as I can find this was the last time they were on screen together. One problem. HOW can a Dodge DAYTONA(!) leave a CORVETTE in the dust?????
... Hal, You know better!
Definetly another Must have in any afficianado's collection.
Now all we need is a directors cut of both films!
