Canon makes the best stuff and now these are my favorite Binoculars. They work GREAT! I always see a lot of unsteadiness when I hold a pair of Binoculars for any period of time while zooming in as far as possible. These though have a button on them which engages a gyroscope (That's what the documentation says) of some sort and totally steadied the image. I walked around using them and they work GREAT! I have yet to try them aboard and boat of from a moving land vehicle, but as the Documentation also states there are apt to be problems with that sort of use. I totally recommend these as being Fantastic Binoculars. Canon always seems to cos more than other devices. I also own a few of their Cameras and Lenses, but you get what you pay for. I have come to like Canon products very much and plan on using their products in the future.

What a difference from my 10x35 standard binoculars. Without the shaking the scene is crystal clear.
Last week I was able to catch a white wolf that was probably a kilometer away. A ram on a nearby peak looked half frame and very clear. Geese grouping for the flight south were visible when I could not pick them out with the naked eye. I was able to follow the calls of the birds in flight then find them with the binoculars.
Issues: The soft case is a little small to quickly remove. You may want to find another.
The front optics do not have a cover and don't look like any would fit. Keep these in a case.
Battery life seems good, but carry a couple spare AA batteries just in case.

If you are OK with existing 10x binoculars, you will love these.

I purchased he Canon IS 10x30 binos for my wife a couple of Christmas' ago and since then they have been used, weekly, for daytime and astronomy purposes. I use them for quick views of the night sky and daytime for observing wildlife during trips upstate - or in the back yard. Excellent build quality, optics and image stabliization (that really works well) for only $300 dollars! The soft case is well padded and fits the binos like a glove. The 2-AA batteries don't last a long time under continued use, so we keep a 4 pack in the case as backup.
The optics are made so well that the sharpness and brightness are equal to other quality name brand 7 x 50 binos that I own.
Highly recommended little binos that pack a BIG punch for the bucks.

Try this, you won't regret it! Size would be the only con ... but then it's far better than regular binoculars.

I have been using Nikon for years but now that I own the Canon 10X30 IS they have become primary for Hunting. The Canon's are great and easy to handle.

I give these a five not because they are perfect but because what they do is so awesome. Used them on safari in Africa. Makes bird identification so much easier because you can really concentrate on the details because of the absence of shaking.
What I don't like
1. They don't fit your hands as nicely as my Vortex or Nikon binocs. Adding the IS degrades the ergonomics.
2. I don't like the rubber eye-guards and love the twist out kind on my Vortex Diamondbacks.
However, when I had super nice standard (non-IS) binocs sitting next to the Canon IS binocs I always used the IS binocs.
The IS binocs also allows you to enjoy 10X mag which I find too shaky in non-IS binocs.

Excellent set of binoculars. Crystal clear and the image stabilizer is awesome. Use them all the time.

I bought one of these two years ago and was very happy with my purchase until recently when I used them in a heavy rain. The binoculars were never submerged or even fully exposed to the rain, but they obviously got wet. The lenses fogged up and the image stabilizer went haywire. It took two days of drying to fix it (I live in California so that was easy). The glasses look like they could take some rain, and I'd expect glasses to be pretty waterproof (esp. at this price) but these clearly aren't.

Overall I'd rate these binos as a VERY good value from a price/performance perspective. Given the low price, the very strong flare/ghosting and annoying 'button hold' hassle take some shine off this product. i.e. the "modest" optical quality of these binos is the weakest part of the whole package. That's the tradeoff given the fairly low price! That said, these binos are light weight and the stabilization works great which make them a joy to use in the field as long as the sun angle is high or facing the subject. I would recommend these as a good inexpensive bino even with the (IMO) somewhat compromised optics.

Even though I only own the binoculars for a few days, I'm very impressed.
The magnification is terrific without any distortions and the image stabilizer works great. Especially when viewing moving objects it makes an incredible difference. After owning a few less expensive binoculars, I was hesitant to spend the money, because I was not quite sure if the image stabilizer would make that much of a difference - it does.
The only downside that I would note is that it only came with lens caps for the back occulars??? Might have to contact Canon to find out if that is normal.
