Product Description

From the Manufacturer

This ultra-wide-angle lens has the shortest focal length in the L-series. Element 2 is an Aspherical lens to correct distortion. Other aberrations such as astigmatism are also corrected, resulting in ideal image quality. The lens has a fixed, petal-type hood and a gelatin filter holder at the rear.

This is a true rectilinear ultra-wide-angle lens that’s absolutely corrected for linear distortion--straight lines remain straight. It’s outstanding for shooting in confined areas and interiors, and is often used by professionals because of the unique "look" its extreme wide angle perspective provides. The optics are superb, highlighted by a ground and polished aspherical element. It has a gel filter holder in the rear that allows up to three gel filters to be used for color correction.

Wide and Fast
If you need an ultra-wide angle and a large aperture, one of the following lenses will fit the bill. Ultra-wide-angle lenses can capture scenes beyond your natural field of vision. The EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye, the widest of them all, has a 180° angle of view. For more normal-looking wide-angle shots, there are longer wide-angle lenses up to 35mm with the maximum aperture you need.

Product Description

Canon EF Autofocus Lenses Canon s reputation for excellence in optics has been well established for years. And with the introduction of EF lenses for the EOS, it s only getting better. EF Lenses have the largest diameter mount of any 35mm camera, which not only strengthens the whole system, but permits optical innovations never before possible. L-Series lenses have better sharpness and contrast because Canon uses aspherical elements to eliminate spherical aberrations. In addition, the L-Series telephotos use UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) glass to reduce chromatic aberration resulting in more accurate colors. A built-in Ultrasonic focusing Motor (indicated by USM) provides pro-quality AF speed with split-second accuracy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Canon 14mm F/2.8, July 6, 2007
This review is from: Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L USM Wide Angle Lens (Electronics)
this lens is one of my favorite it is great for landscapes but at the same time the autofocus is fast enough for me to be able to capture moving items as well. i have heard in other reports that the CA(chromatic aberation) can be seen around the edges of the image when using this lens but in thousands of images i have only noticed it a very few times.

This review is from: Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L USM Wide Angle Lens (Electronics)
This lens has been replaced by updated new EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM which offers better distortion control and higher contrast. Improvement is worthwhile.

This review is from: Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L USM Wide Angle Lens (Electronics)
This lens works like I would expect to see in a premium Canon lens. I wish I could have spent a few extra bucks for the upgraded version.
