compact perfection,

This review is from: Canon CanoScan LiDE70 (Office Product)
for what it is designed to do it is perfect. small, & to emphasize convenience, no electrical wire necessary - usb sufficient. its a lid top, but it can intelligently process numerous pictures at a time by determining borders- though it sometimes makes slight mistakes. its small enough to easily be taken from room with desktop to room with laptop.its scanning resolution is adequate but not spectacular at 600dpi. its speed however blew me away. at tiff (lossless) resolution (17mb per photo) of four 4x6 photos, it took less than 50 seconds to save to file & it comes with useful text recognition software - i suspect most people will use alternative image editing programs than the supplied arcsoft. for the price, excellent value

Scannertastic!,

If manual feed is all one needs, the LiDE 70 is more than enough to create business quality photocopies, faxes, and digitized images. Images can be edited, subject to OCR, printed to actual size, if not more, with little loss in resolution.Without bulky electronics needed for film scanning, the LiDE 70 is compact, light, and quick acting. Energy efficient, its powered by just an USB 2.0 port and can run off an unpowered USB hub. It is roughly as large as a stack of 100 sheets of legal paper. The included software is user friendly with options for advanced functions. Most flatbed scanners scan over 300 dpi, the base resolution for many high-end print images today. The dpi specification is less important than an ergonomic device that is so easy to use that users concern themselves more with what the scans are for, rather than how to scan a document. The LiDE 70 has an embedded counterfeit deterrence system and will give a TWAIN error if a user scans certain monies. Its is not clearly documented by Canon.

Nice scanner,

I researched this scanner in August at Canon's website, and all of the info on it sounded very appealing to me, and I bought one the first week they came out in September. I've had two Visioneer scanners and have used someone else's Visioneer's 7300 USB scanner on occasion and I had been looking into possibly buying one of those instead, and I was a little apprehensive about buying any other brand, but the CanoScan LiDE70 way beats them hands down in regard to clarity and quality of the scan, and I'm glad I bought one over the Visioneer 7300 USB, as this CanoScan LiDE70 is far superior, IMO.About the only thing I can say anything critical about it at this time is that it's a little noisy while scanning, but I can easily live with that.
