5.0 out of 5 stars Canon BP-809
This battery works as described/intended. I average anywhere from 50-70 minutes on my HF20 with this battery, depending on how much I'm tinkering with the panel, etc. There are longer-life, and cheaper non-Canon, BP-809-equivalent batteries out there, but few of them contain the proprietary chip that Canon utilizes to communicate with many of their camcorders for battery...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not great for HF10/HF100
This is more the camera's fault than the battery's, but the BP-809 won't last much more than an hour on the Vixia HF10 or HF100 (even less if you zoom, use the on-board light, or do other power-intensive things). Much better to get the Canon 2589B002 BP-819 Lithium Ion Battery for HF10 & HF100 Camcorders, which provides a comfortable 2.5 hours of performance on either...

3.0 out of 5 stars Slightly short for HFS-100, lasts about 70 min, December 17, 2009

So, the good news is that this battery works fine with Canon HFS-100 camcorder. It is slightly shorter than the original battery that comes with the camcorder, but lasts little longer.
Cons:
- It is expensive for battery that last slightly longer than 1 hour
- It is shorter than the original battery so it does not look great
Apparently, the better choice is BP-819 that is little longer than the original battery, but lasts more than 2 hours.

5.0 out of 5 stars GOOD BATTERY FOR 70 MINUTES, May 18, 2009
This review is from: Canon 2588B004 BP-809B Lithium Ion Battery (Electronics)
Did well for as said all of 70 min. For more time try BP-817 or BP-829. Also if you can shoot video with the LCD closed and less zooming saves battery.

I own a Canon VIXIA HFS100. The camera ships with a BP-807 battery. I bought the BP-809 battery expecting it to be a larger, higher capacity battery than the BP-807. One would think larger model number = larger battery. Not so. The 809 is actually a smaller battery than the 807. Who thought up this numbering scheme?!? I retuned the BP-809 and ordered the BP-819. The BP-819 will run for almost a continuous three hours.

expensive for a battery but unless I'm plugged in I burn through a battery long before I fill up my HD camera's internal storage.

4.0 out of 5 stars Performs as promised, November 17, 2011
This review is from: Canon 2588B004 BP-809B Lithium Ion Battery (Electronics)
This product works and operates just as I expected it to. It is a satisfactory replacement battery for our camcorder. 4 stars, only because it's a battery.

This works well and is decent as long as you're going to only use it for 40 minutes or so. Definitely not a high capacity battery. But good enough if you're using an 8GB memory card recording in MXP+ mode for 1080p.

5.0 out of 5 stars Replacement or Additional Battery, September 21, 2010

I bought this as an additional battery for my Canon HD video camera Canon VIXIA HF20 HD Dual Flash Memory w/32GB Internal Memory & 15x Optical Zoom - 2009 MODEL. It works just as well as the original and is perfect for changing it out while the other one charges. The original battery has a glossy finish, while this one is textured. Other than that they are identical. I bought this with the charger Canon 2590B002 CG-800 Lithium Ion Battery Charger for 800 Series Batteries so I don't have to plug in the camera to charge it.
