Three easy buttons automate the entire scanning process: in one step you can scan, copy, or e-mail your choice of photos or documents. Canon integrated technology automatically removes much of the dirt and scratches that may appear on your original images. Your scans will yield richer, cleaner, more robust images.
The feature-rich 3000F is a true pleasure to use. Its unique Z-Lid expansion top lifts vertically and lays flat to properly scan bulky items such as books or magazines, ensuring clear, high-quality scans. Bundled software lets you scan multiple photos in one pass and transfer them to CDs as easily as scan, click and burn. A USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface enables incredibly fast image transfers and scanning speeds up to 4X faster than USB 1.1 equipped Window-based computers.

3000f review,

When scanning photos this scanner is everything I require. The scanning software is easy to use with a good range of options. However, when it comes to scanning slides it is most disappointing as they always come out dark. To compensate I try tweaking the brightness and contrast settings in the software but the colors in the dark areas are never true. You can play around with the image in a photo-editing program but they are always disappointing and never get near the quality of color and clarity that you get when projected onto a screen. If you want a scanner that scans slides then go for something else, and if all you need to scan is photos and documents then you don't need this scanner.

I recently purchased the Canon CanoScan 3000F and have been very pleased with how it has performed. It was very easy to install. Just stick the CD in and follow the prompts (my Grandfather installed it and he has trouble composing email via hotmail!). Some of the great features include being able to scan your negatives. That's right, even if you have ruined your photo, you can still scan the negative and have a crystal clear image on your PC. Scans of magazines, photos etc. have come out incredibly sharp with great resolution. Specs: 1200 x 2400dpi & 48 bit input USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface for faster scanning speed Included film adapter unit accepts one frame of 35mm film Easy operation using Canon's exclusive multi-scan mode One downside to the Canon is that it is a little bulky but overall it looks & performs great.

Plenty of bells & whisles, but poor image scanning,

I've always been a big fan of Canon's scanners, but the Canoscan 3000f really let me down. I've been using the Canoscan n1240u and have always liked the great colors and vivid scans. I decided to upgrade to the new 3000f, manily because it will scan negatives and slides. Unfortunately, the reproduction quality on these types of scans are not very good. The color reproduction is very poor and the image quality, even at extremely high resolutions is not as true as it is on some of the less expensive Canon scanners. Even after having spent a lot of time working with various settings and options in the scanning software, the quality was still not as good as I would like to have seen. Hopefully Canon will get these problems fixed with their next line of film & photographic scanners.
