The Canon BJC-1000 gives you both affordability and a wide range of color printing options to make the most of your images. It's a great printer for home and family use.
The BJC-1000 comes with Canon's Creative Home software, which makes it easy to make custom greeting cards, calendars, T-shirt art, and more. It handles a wide range of print media, including glossy photo paper, transparencies, banner paper, greeting cards, and even T-shirt transfers.
The Canon BJC-1000 is fairly easy to set up, and comes with a comprehensive, easy-to-follow manual. It gave us sharp, colorful printouts at about two minutes per page in color mode.
The Canon BJC-1000 comes with a standard color cartridge, but also accepts photo-realistic, high-resolution color cartridges, neon color cartridges, and high-resolution black cartridges. While you probably wouldn't use the Canon BJC-1000 for high-volume professional applications, it fits the bill nicely for a home printer--it's especially good for printing photos and greeting cards for friends and family members.

Excellant printer but the rebate has expired,

The price to performance ratio is excellant. Print speed and quality appear to better that other more expensive vendors. The rebate has expired on this product on 7-10-99. The rebate did influence my decision to buy. The printer is still a bargain at this price but I am disappointed in the marketing of this product with the rebate prominently mentioned. Buyer Beware!

Canon BJC 1000,

I previously used the Canon BJC 4300 which was fine except it drank ink like you wouldn't believe. I don't make that many hard copies, probably one 8 1/2 x 11 page a week and once in a great while, copy some email, yet I replaced the black ink cartridge 3-4 times a year and the color, twice, in the 4300. It broke after 2 years. (Planned obsolescence ?)So I thought when I bought this BJC 1000, I would save money. With my rebate, it will only cost $40, plus shipping. But I have no idea yet how long the ink cartridge will last and it is quite expensive - $30, almost as much as the printer! And it is so slow, too. It takes approximately 2 1/2 minutes to hard copy 1 page, 8 1/2 x 11. I only hope I can buy a black ink (only) cartridge for this thing when it runs out and that it will be considerably cheaper than the color and that it will also last a long time. If I have to replace this $30 ink cartridge 2-3 times a year, I will replace this BJC 1000 with one that is much more conservative, like an HP or something else. My friends have HP's and they tell me they hardly ever replace ink cartridges. The money you save on ink cartridges at these prices more than offsets the higher priced printers and their print quality is better and much faster.

Loading the software couldn't have been made any easier. User's manual user friendly too. The print quality in black is excellent and fast enough. Color is quite slow with good quality. Very quiet too. A good way to begin color printing.
