The Canon 2000 is a splendid worker: efficient, speedy, and compact. Its difficulty, and that of all inexpensive printers, is that it consumes the alcohol-based ink at an alarming speed. The on-line businesses which specialize in re-filling inkjet cartridges are quite correct: consumers may spend $69 on a printer, and over $400 a year on ink. Better to get a more expensive printer which conserves ink? Your move.

08Aug99 I have owned my BJC-2000 printer for 3 weeks and remain quite happy with it. One of the accessories that comes with the printer that is not mentioned in the write-up is a cool little case designed to hold the ink cartridge and keep it from drying out while you are using one of the 4 optional print heads. The print head fits perfectly into the case and is compressed against a seal in the bottom when the lid is closed and squeezed down until it latches.

The picture quality is very good for such a budget printer. I purchased mine primarily for text printing and am using the BC-20 black print head which has a very large tank (good for aprox. 900 pages of text) compared to the much smaller tank of black ink (good for aprox. 225 pages of text) that is on the BC-21e color print head that is included with the printer. The BC-20 prints black text faster than the color head as it has 128 nozzles for black compared to 64 black nozzles on the BC-21e. The color head has replacable color and black tanks which are cheaper to replace than buying the entire print head. The print head is very easy to replace. It just drops into a slot and a lever is pulled forward to lock it into the holder.

When I purchased my printer Canon had a $30 rebate program that you might want to look into.

Purchased this specifically for printing from our WebTv bought recently.We are very impressed with the quality andcolor on photgraphs printed. Of course regular copying is fine as well. While we would not use this for printing massive reports etc., we feel we will be very happy using it to print information from the Net occasionally. We like it so much that we are buying two for Xmas presents for our grown children... It fits under our WebTVbehind the doors in our entertainment wall unit. No clutter. It was very easy to hook up.

This is the worst printer I have ever seen. Sure, the price was great (after waiting months for the rebate check); but the print quality was very bad. I tried purchasing more expensive paper, to no avail.

It uses a single cartridge, which means you get color, or black. So if you print a regular document with the color cartridge in, it just mixes all the colors together so it looks black and wastes all of the [expensive] ink. And it does not produce a true black color, which makes the quality of the text very poor.

Because of this, I purchased the black only cartridge which I assumed would be a bit more economical. It was not. The cartridge produced very poor quality documents; the ink bled a great deal and was always inconsistent across the page. Plus, it ran out in a matter of weeks!

My girlfriend purchased the HP 8-series printer with a USB interface (which came with the USB cable, eliminating the need to buy a $20+ parallel cable for computers with USB ports), and the quality is outstanding. Also, it has separate cartridges for black and color which I now consider a must.

I would suggest purchasing the HP printer (Type B00004RG74 into the search box to find it) over this very poorly manufactured printer. This printer reminds me of packard-bell computers, they were very poor quality but sold many because of the price. They are now out of business :)

VERY NICE PRINTER BUT INK EATER. THE BC-21e CARTRIDGE WORKS ONLY FOR 20 PAGES, IT COST $39.00 TO REPLACE

I'm sorry, but after the 2nd time I had to replace the ink cartridge I had enough. I cannot reccomend this INK EATER!

This is an awful waste of money. Granted, I didn't spend much right away, but now, I am getting burned by their ink. Canon makes tiny cartridges that are almost always out of ink. On top of that, you have to buy a new print head every couple times you replace cartridges. I will never buy another Canon printer and do not wish for you to either. Buy an HP or something worthwhile.

Canon BJC2000 is an excellant printer for Home use(only! ). Printing quality is very good. But it drinks lot of ink. I recommend it for home use only.

I'm quite pleased with the quality of printing even on cheap regular paper. Also bought the IS-22 scanner cartridge to go along with the printer. Amazing scanning for a *very* low price, but there is a known software conflict with my computer (Dell). After a toll-call to customer support -- the only way to talk to an actual person is to make the toll call or wait two days for a return of e-mail -- I was told to download a fix from the Canon web-site, but there was a problem with the server on their end. Had to pay for another call to tell them that their website wasn't working...Still waiting for the fix and able to scan only in the most limited way. I'm sure everything will work eventually, and for the price, I really can't complain. But be prepared for some aggravation if you need support.

I've had this printer for 5 or 6 months now, and I'm very happy with it. I haven't done a lot of photo printing, but I've been happy with its color quality. I use it on draft/grayscale mode for most things. I've replaced the black tank once. The software isn't very sophisticated, though it's a good basic program for learning, and the children's Print Factory program is cute- my four year old son loves it. I'd recommend it to anyone doing household, school, or even formal work printing. Great little printer. I'd definitely buy it again.
