I bought my Canon BJC-2100 about a month ago as a stop-gap. My old printer had died, and I was a little tight on money.

I have been very satisfied with this printer in the time that I have had it. Canon seems to have made some improvements over the BJC-2000, most notably the separate cartridges for black&white and color. I did a little checking before I bought this, and the black&white replacement cartridges only cost about $10 (compared to over $30 for some other printers) while the color cartridge (all colors are in this one...there are no separate color wells) was about $25.

This printer has given me very acceptable results. Quality has been fine, but not spectacular. Speed is OK, and I have not had to worry about any paper mis-feeds....

The Canon BJC-2100 has done good work for me so far.

I thought when i bought this little printer it was just going to be "ok." Well, i was pleasantly suprised when i noticed the output. Its not terribly fast but when im working its prints out just fine as i go along. i get the same black quality out of it as i do with my EXPENSIVE Hp. the color quality is great for 90% of my documents and photos. for [the money] you cannot go wrong with this one. its even small enough to take on the road and use in the hotel. Ink use is average and costs are about the same. the cartridges may look small but the are filled to the max. its a great buy for anyone.

Although I don't suggest it for photos, or graphics. I went from the old canon 240 to the canon 2100 when the old one gave up on me. I was told by sales that this printer would not be the best photo printer - but that they would turn out better.

When I tried to print photos they came out almost as bad as the 240. Thinking I had probably messed up, I took it back and made the tech guy try it - needless to say, I left the printer at the store.

-! If your trying to print nothing but text, this printer is fast, and will get the job done. I noticed it printed text fast and it looked ok. Just don't do logo's, photos, and small graphics... :)

The BJC 2100 uses an ink cartridge (part BC-21e) which contains the print heads, and also holds the ink tanks. According to Canon's web site, the BC-21e is supposed to last for 4000 pages, or 20 ink tank replacements. Before you buy this printer, do yourself a favor, and see user comments for the BC-21e replacement cartridge. Mine failed after about 250 pages and while it was only on the 2nd ink tank! Several others report replacing between 3-5 tanks. The cost is about $50, which approximately equals the purchase price with the mail-in rebate! Have had no trouble with Epson printers, but would not buy another Canon.

I have found that the Canon BJC 2100 is a great buy. This easy compact machine is easy to use and is versatile, the cartridges are easy to exchange and replace. And the Canon support system is readily available for any questions, solutions, etc. that the consumer might have. But best of all Amazon has the very Best prices on the ink cartridges!

I bought my Canon BJC-2100 a few months ago, and it was a little harder to get installed than I would have liked, mostly due to some driver problems that were probably my fault. It installs itself as Printing services for USB

Don't forget to also purchase a USB cable for this guy (computer-to-peripheral). It comes with ink.

The picture quality is pretty good. It has three default settings (high, normal, draft) - draft is great for Mapquest, that's mostly what I use this guy for. High makes decent printings on normal paper, but you'd be fooling yourself if you thought it was photo-quality.

I am a college student and I have a laptop computer. I wanted an inexpensive printer but had good quality. Since I write many papers I needed one that had cheap cartridges that lasted fairly long. For around $50 with the rebate it is truly worth it. I have a HP inkjet printer at home and the difference in quality is negligible. I noticed the negative reviews by others but this isn't a laser printer and what do they expect for $50? The color quality isn't that bad either. Compared to HP printers the refill for the black cartridge is around $9-10. You can even find them cheaper on the Internet or if you buy several bundled together.

I bought a Canon BJC-2100. For a while, it worked well. On my recommendation, my sister and my next-door neighbor also bought one each.
All three printers died within four months--a 100% failure rate. ...

I've been using my canon printer for more than 3 years and I'm very please with it. My parents wanted the same printer, so I searched the web and found one for them. The price was right and it included a ..rebate. It's a great printer and it only uses a small amount of space. The driver install process is done in a few mintues and the printer is ready to perform. This canon printer is fast and makes great color and black printed pages. This printer includes free greeting card software. My family enjoys making their own greeting cards. Replacement ink cartridges for this printer are not [that much]. The printer has 2 separate ink cartridges, one with color ink and one with black ink. If one ink cartridge runs out, the printer still prints. Great works come from this small canon printer.

First off, the 21xx series, of which I own the 2100 and 2130 are excellent printers for the money. The 2100 replaced my old BJC-600E, and the 2130 is now serving our downstairs computers.

Now to the reason I rate it 4 stars instead of five, and the fix for that problem.

The print ink dries up and clogs the print head, and you have to clean it. Fortunately, it isn't really that hard.

Take about 2 cups of very warm to hot water (not boiling hot, but hot) and put it into a bowl.

Drop the print head in, swish it around a few times, and let it sit for a while to allow the hot water to dissolve the dried on ink in the print head.

You may have to do this a few times to get rid of all of the dried on ink (you'll see colors bleeding out of the intakes), but it DOES work, and has kept my printers in good condition (no streaks, prints all colors w/o clogs) for the last two years.
