Having a spare battery and charger keeps my camcorder ready to go. I leave my spare battery in the charger and then, when the primary battery is drained, I swap the batteries and recharge the drained one. The charger is light and small (cell phone size), the prongs retract when not in use, it is easy to carry (in an equipment bag or a pocket), a green light indicates when charging is finished, and I can usually find a wall plug for an emergency charge (such as recharging while having a snack at a cafe).

This is a well designed battery charger, no cord to store and very compact. My older Canon Elura Camcorder charger was big, bulky and heavy, and connected to the wall outlet by a cord. This one is just a little bigger than the battery and plugs directly into the socket. A small indicator light informs you when the battery is charged. It is much more convenient than the included charger for the Elura 100. I just took it to Europe and appreciated how it helped me travel light.

I purchased this item due to my overwhelming ignorance. After buying my wife the Elura 100 DV camera from Canon I got this charger thinking I was being smart. The camara is it's own battery charger as it turns out, when you plug the guy in. Never-the-less, we use this charger because it is easier and less bulky ...and sure enough, it charges the battery just fine and dandy. Kudos to it for doing what it was designed to do... Now if only I was as smart...

I bought the Canon CG-300 charger for a trip to Europe. I have a Canon DC40 camcorder. It worked great! I was afraid of charging the camcorder battery directly (in the camcorder) due to the electrical voltage difference and liked having this option. It charged both my primary and back up battery quickly and I am very happy with my purchase.

This is a great stand alone charger. Just put the battery in and plug it into the wall.

the charger came in time even though it wasn't a direct amazon product and it works great, and cheapest i saw.

I ordered the charger, actually two, along with 4 batteries so I am never without a charged battery. This is also safer for your camera than charging it in the camera which causes excess heat. I highly recommend this product for all digital camera users.

canon video didn't come with charger so you must charge battery in camera. The charger is an optional accessory-definitely needed because you can't charge battery and use camcorder at the same time. I like a charged spare battery as a back up while traveling. not superfast

i drain my batt too fast, and i like having a spare on hand. I'd give it 5 stars if it wasnt as expensive as it is. in fact, i think this thing should come free with the extra battery: Canon BP-315 Battery Pack for Optura 600 & HV10 Camcorders
