Extremely pleased,
This review is from: Canon CLI-8PM Photo Magenta Ink Tank (Office Product)
Everytime I've purchased any Canon ink cartridge, and I've purchased well over a hundred bargain brand's and Canon's, I've been extremely pleased with:
o no clogging, o quality print, o page count per cartridge printing, o every cartridge printing when installed The only negative would be their high pricing, but I guess it proves the old axiom "you get what you pay for".

What can you say about ink? I found no problems with it... it arrived quickly, was about $30 cheaper for all 6 than buying them at the store. As long as you ready your printer manual to find out exactly what ink you need, and check the product to make sure you're buying the right thing, there shouldn't be any problems.

Oh dear god why can't people READ!!,
This review is from: Canon CLI-8PM Photo Magenta Ink Tank (Office Product)
It says right in the product description: Magenta Photo Ink Cartridge for IP6600D.
I am shocked by the amount of people that can't read. People all over the place are buying the wrong thing and then they give the product 1 star! Lets not ding products for your own inability to pay attention. Those of us that actually use the comments for real product comparisons would greatly appreciate it.

A Sure Shot for my Canon,

This review is from: Canon CLI-8PM Photo Magenta Ink Tank (Office Product)
I use this size cartridge for my Canon Pixma MP 970 which uses 6 cartridges. I only buy Canon ink for this printer because I don't think it's worth the small savings to compromise quality for generic cartridges.
In the past I've used generic twice, once for a Canon and once for an HP printer. Both experiences were unsatisfactory. This ink tank is a breeze to install. On my printer the low ink tanks have blinking lights above them for easy identification. Just press a release tab to remove the empty tank and snap in the new one. It couldn't be easier. On most printers, including my present one, a low ink tank warning appears on screen each time a printing task begins. I'm never in a hurry to switch out low ink tanks. Often a low ink tank will last a full month or more before it finally goes empty. I always have spare tanks on hand so I can immediately replace empty tanks. Prices for inks are very good on Amazon. Their prices are just as good as those I've found at BJ's or Office Depot, and shipping is free for orders over 25 dollars. Be aware that ink tanks have expiration dates, so one can't stock up too much on extra ink tanks.

A Black Hole in my printer,

I have no complaints about the performance of this ink in my Pixma Pro printer. I have only cranked out 250 cards so far, and I have not ventured to try off-brand inks, due to tight production schedule. My only complaint is that for some reason I am using the Photo Magenta ink twice as fast as any other color. The cards have all sorts of colors, so I am not printing the same image a zillion times. I guess I have no complaint about the ink per se, but I sure wish Canon would bundle it into the 3- and 4-packs of ink. They have to know how fast it gets used up!
I concur with the comment that people need to take care when re-ordering ink. Seems to me the fool-proof way is to read the part number from your cartridge and search on that number.

I have a Canon Photo Printer which takes six CLI-8 Canon Ink Cartridges. The cost of each individual ink cartridge ranges from around $12.50-15 (on Amazon) to 18.99 in Staples. So no matter how you buy the genuine Canon Ink Cartridges keeping yourself ready to print photos is expensive.
You can get a better per cartridge of you buy them in Canon CLI-8 4-Color Multipack Ink Tanks. In that case each individual cartridge is a little less expensive. Canon package CL-8C (Cyan), CL-8M (Magenta), CL-8Y (Yellow), and CL-8BK (Black) as a pack ($40-44 on Amazon). When cartridges are sold in packs you might think those colors are used at similar rates... but that is not so. I have kept track of the usage of the cartridges over a long period of time and would like to share these results with you. Number of cartridges used CL-8M Magenta = 5 CL-8Y Yellow = 8 CL-8B Black = 6 CL-8PC Photo Cyan = 6 CL-8PM Photo Magenta = 8 CL-8C Cyan = 4 My usage shows that yellow is used the most, followed closely by Photo Magenta, followed next by Black and Photo Cyan, and trailed by Cyan and Magenta. Note that I have a laser printer that I used for text otherwise the usage of the Black Cartridge would have been a lot higher. I buy most of my color photo ink on-line from Amazon. However now that Staples began (again) accepting CL-8 cartridges for Staples Rewards in their recycling empty cartridges program, I wanted to analyze my usage to see which cartridges I should buy at Staples using my Staples Rewards. My original thought was to buy Canon CLI-8PC Photo Cyan Ink Tank and Canon CLI-8PM Photo Magenta Ink Tank since they don't come in a pack. But given the usage chart above, it is clear that I should buy extra Yellow and Photo Magenta.

As always, very expensive, but much cheaper than local office supply stores and ordered in quantity you even ge free shipping. Canon inks are the best and I warn you against ever trying the cheaper "compatible" inks...they are total crap.

I love my printer and the ease of changing the ink tanks. No wasted ink or pink instead of red on prints. When the tank is empty, the printer stops and tells me ot install a new one. Great ink.

It's Cannon ink, for Pete's sakes: it is very expensive but is excellent quality. Never tried aftermarket ink. Amazon's shipping is amazingly fast.

Hideously Expensive, but Superior Quality,

The original Canon inks are expensive enough to make me cringe whenever the thought of replacing them comes up ("check ink level -- ink level is low"). But I have to say that I've been using these Canon cartridges for about four years now, and they have all worked flawlessly on a whole series of paper types: plain, plain coated, heavy stock, semi gloss photographic, and high gloss premium photographic. The results are simply stunning. When printed on the right paper with an image that has been properly prepared, my Canon injet printer (I use an older model, the Canon i6600) knocks out images that far exceed what you would normally find on reproduction prints. When I see what this ink (and printer) can do, it makes me hold back my anger at the cost of replacing the ink when necessary. My printer uses six ink colors (Black, Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, Photo Cyan, and Photo Magenta). One can sometimes find a slight reduction in price by buying in sets or in multiple packs, so do your homework before you purchase. Some of the packs that offer discounts are for the larger, eight-ink printers, so if you have one of those, again, look carefully for these sets before you make a purchase so that you don't mistakenly end up with two extra colors that are not used by your printer. I have found that it pays to strategize with these purchases, rather than just purchasing the one ink that is running low at the moment. Take advantage of price reduction sets, and then build a little pile of ink cartridges at home while you wait for other inks to run out. It's a bit more "up front" cost, but can pay off over the long run. If you buy original ink like this from the manufacturer, you aren't likely to get "cheap" costs, but you can reduce the costs a little from off list. So, again, other than the high cost, I rate these Canon inks as simply excellent. They work very well, have excellent color (and generally long durability), don't seem to ever clog or cause other problems in the printer, and can really help you make the most out of your inkjet printer (particularly if you are printing photos). If all you ever do is print out color handouts for documents, you MIGHT consider an OEM or "off brand" as these distinctions won't matter as much to you. But for photo printing, I recommend these Canon inks. |
