Canon Soft Carrying Case SC-A80 for all Canon Consumer Camcorders

I just received this so I have not yet tried to pack all of my components into it but I wanted to post some initial comments to help others that might have been as frustrated as I. First, the dimensions. Outside measurements are about 9.5 inches long (across), 3.5 inches wide (front to back), and 6 inches high (tall). The tag says the inside dimensions are 8 inches across, 3 inches wide, and 5 inches high. It's small but it looks like it will be perfect for my new Canon HF M300.

There is no leather. The tag says it has rubberized nylon that's urethane coated.

The front pocket has a zipper and inside there are two pockets that look fine for a couple SD cards. The main compartment opens with two zippers. The zipper pulls are connected together so you tug on the connector and both zippers open/close at the same time. This enables you to open the 2.5 inch flap that runs the length of the case, which is also well secured with velco on one end. Inside the main compartment is a divider that runs from front to back, also secured with velco so you have some flexibility to move it left to right or to remove it entirely.

As you can see from the photo, it comes with a shoulder strap and handles for carrying.

If I have any issues or discover that it won't hold my HF and other components, I'll post an update. Otherwsie, assume I'm content with this seemingly perfect case for my needs.

I took a chance buying this case becasue there are no dimensions online that I could find. I am an avid Canon customer and have used their products ever since digital cameras came to market. Let me say that this case is the PERFECT fitting case for my HF20 camcorder. Others seem to be too small or to large. This fits all the accessories, charger next to camera is separated by a velcro spacer like others you see. The cables and SDHC cards go in front. All in all I am totally shocked that this case is not marketed to be THE case to fit the Canon HF series camcorders. I am very happy I purchased this right the first time.

I purchased my SC A-80 to carry my new Canon Vixia HSF 200, along with the various items it comes with, including extra battery, cables, battery charger, etc. In addition, I consolidated items by keeping my wallet and smartphone in the bag as well. Using the supplied shoulder strap, I put it over my head and on my left shoulder, with the bag itself under my right arm. This worked extremely well, providing adequate security and relatively quick access.

The bag is well constructed, with sufficient cushioning as a defense against the normal bumps. The adjustable compartment allowed me to fit the camera, even with the larger BP-827 battery on it. The front zippered pocket held my wallet, and when necessary, I put the smart phone on top of the camera inside the bag when it wasn't in my pocket.

The only drawback I found was that the combination zipper / velcro mechanism on the main bag required some dexterity to open when I wanted to video something unexpected, and I lost a couple of cool shots. However, for the most part, the camera itself is so compact that I simply ended up carrying it in hand more than I'd originally expected.

Overall - this is an excellent product, compact in size, with durable materials, solid zippers, and well constructed.

When I selected this bag I focused on the less the better, and to be honest, I was looking for right price. When I opened it I thought: "Oh! Will all my things get into it?" Guess what, they did. I bought the Vixia M31, plus aditional battery, plus traveler charger, and with all the cables the Vixia brings, all fit right into. Remember, less is better when you travel abroad. Good product, nice quality materials.

In terms of functionality, I agree with all of the positive comments that others have shared about this bag. The bag easily accommodated my Canon Vixia HF S21 camcorder and all of my accessories -- and I particularly liked the "double-zipper opening" accross the top of the bag, as it provides quick and easy access to the main compartment. Overall, in terms of functionality, it's the best bag that I've been able to find for my camcorder, and I've spent a lot of time looking.

That said, unfortunately, the bag that I received from Amazon absolutely reeked with a very strong chemical odor, like diesel or gasoline. As soon as I opened the box, the smell emanated throughout the house; I seriously started to get a little buzz from it, and the smell started to nauseate my pregnant wife, so I had to put the bag out in the garage. I'd read several reviews of a different model of Canon bag that had this issue, and the users reported that the smell didn't subside even after several weeks. So, I decided to return this bag before the return deadline expired.

For whatever it's worth, I wound up buying a Lowepro Edit 110 bag at Best Buy for like $20. In terms of functionality, the Lowepro bag serves its purpose ok for my Canon camcorder, but isn't quite as ideal as this bag. If you can get this bag without the accompanying horrendous smell, it's a great way to go.

I purchased this case to use with my Canon VIXIA HF200 HD camcorder. The case is the perfect size, and I am able to store the camcorder, a spare battery, the battery charger, the power cord for the camcorder, the HDMI cable, and the mini-USB cable all in the case. While the case is able to hold all of that, it is still very small and easy to pack. The velcro latch at the top of the case ensures the camera is secured and will not fall out. The case is a soft case, so it would not do much to cushion a drop from any sort of height, but it provides enough protection to the camera to pack it in the trunk of the car while going on trips.

Great case, my Canon camera fits perfectly with all it's cables and stuffs. And it really protects the camera. It looks really cool to so I recommend it.

I purchased this bag because I wanted a small camcorder bag, 1) to protect my camcorder from bangs and scratches during transport to whatever event I wish to video, 2) I didn't want another large bag to lug around since my camera equipment requires me to have a bag and a backpack I was done with the heavy bags. I have the Canon HF M41 camcorder and it the compartment in the bag fits this camcorder nice and snug along the sides and you have a movable divider held by velcro to make sure the camcorder doesn't move at all. On the other side of that divider I am easily able to fit the battery charger equipment making this little bag an excellent fit and great for weekend trips when I will need to used of that recharger. Other than that not much more to say, I will post some pictures at a later date to help illustrate why review.

I originally purchased this bag from Zeemo Digital. It arrived quickly, but on opening I, like several others who have reviewed the bag, was overwhelmed by the smell. When I looked it over I also found some Velcro that was not properly sewed on so I returned it the next day and ZeeMo promptly issued me a refund. However, except for the smell, I really did like the bag! I was also curious why most reviewers did not mention any smell. I googled it and found another source for less money, so I took a chance and ordered another one. It arrived today and I'm happy to say it smells just fine. There's also a moral to this story. While I have found that Amazon usually has very competitive prices, evidently some Amazon Marketplace sellers do not, so beware. Before you buy, it is always good idea to google the item to see if you're getting a fair price. The bag is an excellent value for $34.95 which is why I gave it 5 stars!

It does smell of gasoline, but the style, the functionality are far superior than my cousin's Lowepro. I hope the smell would go away one day.
