Sanders, along with Brevard Childs, was a leading proponent of "Canon Criticism" (though Childs preferred the term "canonical approach") as a means of interpreting the Scriptures. Sanders is a scholar of the first rank, and his writing style is engaging. Though there are areas in which I am not fully convinced of Sanders' positions, this book, along with Childs' Introduction to the Old Testament as Scripture, is foundational reading for anyone desiring an insight into the canonical method of "doing theology."
