This product can be used on Canons HF11 / HF10 / HF 100 / HG21 and HR10.
(Amazon doesnt mention it)

This compact, reliable lens extends your view by roughly 40 %.

The lens has the standard factor 0.7 which all professional photo and video makers are producing. Therefore it does not have the wideness of non - genuine niche marcet products like f.e. Raynox's HD-5050 PRO or HD-3032 PRO.

However, It does keep up the high visual standard you would have come to expect from Canon.

Or to put it bluntly - it doesnt downgrade your FULL HD camcorder to a webcam ;-)

Usually adding a lens will introduce a whole new set of issues.
(less light sensitivity, contrast, sharpness, details, additional colour fringing etc.).
But not with this product - or at least not that I am aware off.

So if you need the extra 40%, of course fully zoomable without the short comings most products from competitors come with, than this lens is a sound choice !!

The lens colour fits the silver of the camcorder and changing the lens is
easy to do but takes roughly 8-10 seconds. A snap - lock it like feature could reduce that time to perhaps 2-4 seconds.

Whats nice is that the package contains a Canon original leather-like bag in which you can store your lens protected when not in use.

Thanks Canon !!

This wide angle lens is a great accessory. In this video, I set up my VIXIA HF200 on a tripod and start at the widest zoom setting. I then put on the wide angle lens and record for a little more. When you watch the video, pause it and pay close attention to the edges of what is visible. After I put on the lens, you'll be able to see a lot more all around. Before I purchased this lens, I considered buying a cheaper lens, but decided against it after seeing how distorted cheaper lenses can be. This lens does have some distortion, but it is minimal and only appreciable on the outer edges when viewing straight lines. The lens itself is fairly hefty and weighs 5.3 ounces, it's just a bit over 1.5" long and the lens has 2 5/8" diameter. The only draw back to this lens is that it makes the camera heavier than usual and it renders the on board LED lamp useless. I also have another review where I show the VL-5 video light with and without the wide angle lens, check that out if you want to see that. This wide angle lens is also compatible with the DM-100 microphone.

The wide angle lens may not seem like an important accessory but it does a better job of capturing "The mind's eye" memory of landscapes. Also, it let's you take better video indoors because the viewing angle of the VIXIA cameras is somewhat narrow, it allows you to get more people in a frame. This is an expensive accessory but it is definitely worth it if you are trying to make better home movies and capture whole landscapes.

I just recently purchased a Canon HF10. After a few video recordings I noticed that I always had to step back a few feet to capture the action when recording in and around my house. This was getting to be a little bit annoying as some rooms are smaller than others and space to step back was limited. I started doing research and found that the solution would be to use a Wide Lens Adapter. It turned out that there were many options available and from the reviews I read this Canon WD-H37 II was one of the more higher rated.

I ordered this from Amazon. It arrived within 2 days, excellent fast shipping as usual from Amazon. When I opened the package and put the Canon WD-H37 II on my HF10 I immediately noticed a difference. The lens captured entire room settings and with no distortion to the picture that I noticed. The lens is solid and almost as heavy as the HF10 itself. It comes with 2 lens covers for front/back and a leather Canon logo pouch for storage. Solid, high quality.

I'm not a professional so I don't know the technical terminologies and all that jazz but I do know that this lens has made recording video much more pleasant on my HF10. I highly recommend this product if you are having the same issues as I had.

This Canon WD-H37 II conversion is the best I've ever used...And I've used and tested plenty for both video cams and DSLR cameras...One always expects image degredation and possibly distortion and/or aberations of some sort to show up with any conversion lens...Just the law of physics...

I would say there is about 5% image degredation, distortion and increase in CA when using the WD-H37 II when coupled with a HG 20, which is what I own...I have several 28mm SLR lenses and with this conversion lens on the HG20 the field of view is EXACTLY the same as the 28m SLR lenses...So I'm gonna go out on a limb here and deduce this HG20 and WD-37II has a 28mm equiv, field of view...VERY nice and entirely adequate for my needs...In fact the combo is so good I leave it on all the time as I still end up with a 28-300mm equiv...

Even though I mentioned 5% degredation I did a test with friends and family and they couldn't tell the difference...I didn't even tell them about the convertor until after the test...Sure they noticed it was wider but they just thought I was zooming differently...But when really looking and pixel peeping as some call it, there is that approx. 5% degredation...So to say it has absolutely none, as it really does appear that way, would be false and misleading...I'll take 5% anyday...

The ONLY negative is no threads on the front for filters...But I plan on designing something in the very near future to alleviate this problem...Also attaching a rubber lens hood is in the plan...

The price might seem a little steep but for quality glass one must pay the extra and for sure don't settle for something cheaper...To me this would totally defeat the idea of getting a hi-def video cam in the first place...

Buy it, you'll be very happy!!!
