5.0 out of 5 stars Great Camera
The camera is absolutely amazing. My parents had an older (non-digital) Canon SLR that I loved when I was growing up, but for the last few years I've been using a simple point and shoot Digital camera. I always thought the pictures it took were fine, but after getting this camera I realized how wrong I was. The colors on the new camera completely blow away anything...

1.0 out of 5 stars unhappy delivery
This transaction was unsatisfactory, as the seller did not deliver the goods to the desired address within the time frame indicated. As a result I was forced to return the items without accepting them from UPS. Very frustrating, since I was depending on receiving the camera for picture taking while away on a trip.

I would not purchase from the seller again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Camera, January 4, 2010

This review is from: Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.1MP Digital SLR Camera (Black) with Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS + 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Lens + 16GB Card + LP-E5 Battery + Case + Accessory Kit (Electronics)
The camera is absolutely amazing. My parents had an older (non-digital) Canon SLR that I loved when I was growing up, but for the last few years I've been using a simple point and shoot Digital camera. I always thought the pictures it took were fine, but after getting this camera I realized how wrong I was. The colors on the new camera completely blow away anything you'd get with a point and shoot camera and the rate you can take pictures is fantastic. We recently had a daughter and taking Christmas pictures was a breeze with this camera. I just kept taking pictures, not worrying if she was smiling perfectly and then went through and found the good ones. On top of that the simple modes such as portrait make the camera idiot proof for most pictures.

A few notes, if you like to use the live view (LCD screen) you have to use the creative modes. My wife is not very technical but she wanted to be able to just look at the screen like she did on our point and shoot. The downside is that you can't use the simple modes and use the screen and she doesn't want to have to set any of the settings. However, she has found that using the view finder works fine and for the quality of the pictures she is more then willing to use it.

For the price I didn't really care about the bag, but the quality of it was cheap and one of the clips actually came broken. However, for the price of the whole package, I was fine with a cheap bag. I plan on getting a better camera bag prior to going away with the camera.

I bought this camera as a gift for my son and daughter-in-law who were expecting their first child. The photos they have taken with the camera have been super. He was able to be up and running with the camera in just a short time and it's his first experience with an SLR. Great value and super camera.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well Worth the $$$$ as an entry Pro Digital SLR, October 3, 2010

This camera encompasses many features and is well suited for SLR beginners on their way to professionalism. I purchased the full kit for approximately $1,000 and it is well worth the money especially with having the extra lense.

My only comment is if you are looking for a day to day camera that encompasses many nice features, then you can go with other Canon Cameras with retractable telescopic lenses and many manual features to control your photos at less than half the price. However, if you are sure you need an SLR and can live with its big size, then this is one of the best entry level SLR cameras in the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never taken better pictures, September 8, 2010

I purchased this camera after I saw the amazing photos a friend of mine was taking with her Canon T1i. I could NOT be happier with the splurge I made on this camera. I live in Europe and the photos I have been able to capture since finding this are literally better than I imagined. It's fairly easy to use and the night photos (in particular) are ridiculous!! The extras that came with the camera have not been used too much, but it's nice to have the additional battery and lens. I am so unbelievably happy with this camera, I would scream it from the roof tops if anyone would listen! It's not exactly portable like the little hand held cameras I've had before, but I gladly tote it everywhere as it's worth the tiny bit of hassle. This camera is worth every penny... and then some.

Excellent package. It was well worth it to step up to these options, especially the larger memory card & extra battery. Did note that the latches on the carring bag are a bit flimsy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fine Camera, Mediocre Accessories, November 20, 2011

The Canon EOS Rebel T1i kit is a fine introduction to DSLRs. It comes with a couple of good lenses, a 16GB SD card, a spare battery, and a few miscellaneous bits that do not match the quality of the camera. The camera bag is pretty basic, and not particularly well-suited to field use. The lens cleaning kit is useless. In fact, the Chinese-made rubber air bulb for blowing dust from the lens smells so strongly that my wife insisted it be removed to the garage, before being discarded. It's probably toxic waste.

I have extensive experience with Canon cameras, including 35mm SLRs and digital point-and-shoot, and have always found them to be well-built and well-supported by the manufacturer. In fact, when the LCD screen of my Powershot A80 failed, several years after the warranty had expired, Canon replaced it for free, since the screens had apparently been defective from their supplier. I assume Canon will support the T1i equally well in future.

Like any complex equipment, the T1i takes some time and effort to master, but it will continue to meet my photography needs for some time to come. It has all the essential bells and whistles, including Canon's outstanding autofocus and image stabilization.
