Indispensable,
By A Customer
This review is from: Canon EOS A2e/A2 (Magic Lantern Guides) (Paperback)
To fully understand the A2/A2E, this guide is necessary. It describes and explains in great detail the functions and features of the A2/A2E. It is useful and easy to have in the field; the information is readily available without an index and it conveniently fits in most camera bags.

A Must Have If You Own This Camera or the EOS 5,
By Angela M Stephenson (Detroit, Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Canon EOS A2e/A2 (Magic Lantern Guides) (Paperback)
Not only does this expand on the manual, it gives additional information. Elaborates on many functions the manual only touched on as well as mentioned others the manual ignored. Offers extensive information on lenses, flashes and other accessories. The EOS 5 is the international version of this camera and this book is entirely compatible with it as well (that is the camera I own). Buy it, you won't be sorry (even if you think you already "know" your camera).

This is the book you should buy for your Canon A2/A2E camera,
By A Customer

I purchased both this book and The Complete Canon User's Guide by Steve Bavister because the two were indistiguishable on this website. Well, I am keeping this book and returning the other. The Magic Lantern book goes to great lengths to ensure that you understand what is going on "behind the scenes" of the functions described in the manual that comes with the camera.

I give this manual a thumbs up!,
This review is from: Canon EOS A2e/A2 (Magic Lantern Guides) (Paperback)
I found this book to be a great deal better than the manual that accompanied my EOS A2. It's clear, concise, easy to read, understand and a great book for the amateur or the professional. I like the way this book delved into specific areas and gave recommendations and tips for particular situations. For cameras like the EOS A2, manuals like this are essential for understanding its features and to make photography meaningful and rewarding. My only criticism would be the lack of an index. I've been involved in photography for 25 years and rate myself as an intermediate to advanced.

Canon Eos A2E/A2 (Magic Lantern Guides Series) (P-1-M38F3),

This book also covers the Canon EOS 5 which is what I have. This book filled in the blanks or gave reasons why cerain things work the way they do. It also gave recomendations and sugestions from professionals who have used the camera. I have used single lens reflex cameras since 1954. I rate myself as an advanced amature photographer.

This book has been some of my favorite reading!,

After I bought a used A2E, I bought this book to substitute for the owner's manual. I thought I would be using it as an occasional reference and be done with it. I was wrong. This is a very concise and informative guide to photography for both beginners as well as advanced amateurs and semi-pros. Even though I've used Canon SLR's for the last 22 years (along with my large format equipment) and have taught photography at the college level, I found that this book was a valuable refresher of 35mm skills as well as a helpful alternative to the owner's manual.

Good book if you don't have the manual or other photo books,
By John Downey (smithereens@hotmail.com) (Tucson, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Canon EOS A2e/A2 (Magic Lantern Guides) (Paperback)
The Magic Lantern series is a decent set of books used to explain the nuances of your 35mm. However, considering the price of this pocket-sized manual, the original users manual (Canon's is pretty decent) plus a good 35mm photography book are more than adequate.

Excellent camera manual.,

Is far more in depth than the manual that you get with the camera when you purchase it. Will teach you what everything on your camera does and how to do it. It is also a great resource to read if thinking about buying the camera, before making the investment. I have the A2 and enjoy it thoroughly. It compares well with much more expensive cameras.

This is an excellent guide to a very nice camera. Well written and takes you through all the steps of not only the camera functions and features but also gives you a broad overview of photography in general. It matters not whether you are a novice or a professional: everyone will walk away the better for reading it. I was impressed.
I have read two other Magic Lantern Guides and this is, by far, superior in everyway to the others. The authors passion for his profession shines through. Highly recomended even if you do not own this camera. |
