Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering by extending and shading the end of the lens, ensuring no problems with vignetting or motor functions. Additionally, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. Lens hoods match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.

This lens hood fits the following Canon lens:

  • EF 35mm f1.4L USM

Product Description

One of the most important accessories for each lens you own. A lens hood provides multiple functions: it shades the lens from stray light, improving your contrast and image quality; in inclement weather, it can assist in keeping moisture or wind-blown debris off the lens; and it protects the front barrel from the inevitable impacts against walls, door frames, and other real-life obstacles. Almost all EF and TS-E lenses have a Canon lens hood engineered specifically for it.

This review is from: Canon EW-78C Lens Hood for EF 35mm f/1.4L USM Lens (Electronics)
I've been looking for my lost 35L hood for months. I finally broke down and bought this replacement. My old one showed up in a drawer days later.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bumper for expencive lens, December 17, 2009
This review is from: Canon EW-78C Lens Hood for EF 35mm f/1.4L USM Lens (Electronics)
This hood comes with EF 35mm f/1.4 L USM lens. It is big, it is bulky and after three days of use it does not look like new anymore since it is easily scratched.

In many cases there is no need for a hood, but pro still leave hood on the lens. Think of this as a bumper. In fast paced hectic situation (Party, kids, etc.) this $45.00 expensive piece of plastic will save your $1,400 lens.

Filter is OK, but I've seen "all metal" lenses fall to the floor and hit it right where you will attach your filter. After the fall. Lens works just fine, glass is OK, but tread is bent, and there is no way to attach any filter.
