4.0 out of 5 stars Canon multifunction printer
I upgraded to this printer from an older Canon multipass machine that a few years ago cost me more than 2x as much and did much less. This printer has black and white and color copying, scanning and printing. It is a good size, easy to use and has ink tanks that are seperate for each color, so you just replace what you need. 2.0 out of 5 stars Multifunction or Malfunction?
This product is, in theory, a very useful multitask machine. Unfortunately, I've had quite a bit of trouble keeping it in working order. The ink ran out after what seemed to be very little use (though this, I'm afraid, may be typical of modern printers). Then, when I bought the replacement cartridge..., I still get the "cartridge needs replacing" message. ... overall I'm...

4.0 out of 5 stars Canon multifunction printer, January 24, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Canon MultiPASS C755 Multifunction (Office Product)
I upgraded to this printer from an older Canon multipass machine that a few years ago cost me more than 2x as much and did much less. This printer has black and white and color copying, scanning and printing. It is a good size, easy to use and has ink tanks that are seperate for each color, so you just replace what you need. I have had mine for about 2 months and haven't had any problems with it. Pictures print quickly and are pretty sharp. I think this is a great printer to use at home as I do for my basic household computer printing, and I make many copies which is great too.

4.0 out of 5 stars No More Kinko's!, June 10, 2001

With my new Canon MultiPASS C755, I no longer have to drive out of my way to Kinko's for printing or faxing. In the long run, it will pay it's self off in less than a year. So far, I'm enjoyng my new toy. Prints fast and clear, and the faxing is quick. The ink cartridges seems to hold more ink, and are somewhat more affordable too. The cartridges are very easy to replace. I like the size and lite weight of my new MultiPASS, it fits anywhere. My last printer was a Canon BJC4000 series I purchased back in 1998. It treated me well, and is why I stuck with the purchase of another Canon.

5.0 out of 5 stars great buy, June 15, 2001

I bought my multipass c755 just this afternoon and have begun to really love it.

Setting it up was like a breeze. It prints considerably noiselessly and fast. It faxes, copies and scans great.

The best thing about this item is that it's worth your money. (That is why I have to give it a five-star instead of a four). I did quite some compare shopping before I decided on this one. Other brand names within the same price range simply don't provide as many functions or comparable printing effect.

Then, when I bought the replacement cartridge..., I still get the "cartridge needs replacing" message. ... overall I'm sorry I didn't get a basic printer and the other peripherals (scanner, fax) separately. I admit I'm far from being a techie, but these machines are supposed to be easy to use and this one doesn't fit that description at all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very friendly with Windows XP, April 11, 2002

This review is from: Canon MultiPASS C755 Multifunction (Office Product)
I bought this mulitfunction printer about 1 year ago, and at first it seemed OK. I was running Windows 98 and it installed pretty well. But after restarting sometimes, it would not recognize that the printer was even there (much less the printer manager).

COMPATIBILITY : Seemed decent with Win98 (sometimes), but was awful with WinXP
PRINTER: Prints very badly. Lots of broken lines in the images. Tried to print some CD labels, and they never came out straight.
COPIER: Never tried it, so I cannot comment.
SCANNER: You have to really help the picture in to get a semi-decent scan. I probably scanned 100 photos, and only 1 or 2 looked near professional.
FAX: Never tried it

I upgraded my OS to Windows XP Pro a few months ago and it was a nightmare trying to get the printer to work. I used the new XP software from the Canon website, but it still didn't help out. I gave it to my mom to use since she needed one anyways. I STILL can't get the software uninstalled now.

I do not recommend this printer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Printer Ever, April 4, 2004
This review is from: Canon MultiPASS C755 Multifunction (Office Product)
If my sister askes whether to buy this C755 Multipass, my answer is, "Darn forget it." Yest it prints, scans, faxes and photo copies. But that's it. Quallity of printing (whatever it is black, color, faxing or copying), is almost tragic. There are very notable thinny line between one horizontal ink spread and another. Another agony is popping up when you leave it out for a relatively long period of time. Ink or nozzle (I don't know what actually cause problem) are sticking up and it produces jagged letters or images which is very unsmooth. Scanning quallity? It's even no better than today's digital cameras which many cell phones arm with. Last pitfall is it needs on-memory utility software turned always on. Considering the large memory size of today's computers, the on-memory residencial utility program could not be a big issue. Yet, it makes lots of problem such as scarry blue screen and reasonless system stop with certain applications. I manually dragged the utility out from my start-up list for trouble shooting and reenter it when I needed printing. All in all, I gave it away to somebody and I'm so happy about it.

1.0 out of 5 stars don't do it!!!!!!, January 28, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Canon MultiPASS C755 Multifunction (Office Product)
We purchased this printer while still running windows98. It has NEVER worked correctly. We have since upgraded to windowsXP and the problems are even worse. The print quality is terrible. The top of page one of nearly everything is a mess. This machine is NOT user friendly at all so if you are the least bit intimidated by copying, faxing, scanning, etc, then DO NOT buy this. I wish that I could give it zero stars. I would recommend this only as a "hand me down" to a preschooler who doesn't know or care about the quality. Then again, maybe not.

1.0 out of 5 stars MultiNONfunction - software support is TERRIBLE, September 3, 2003

I've had compatability issues with this printer/fax/copier/scanner from the first time I tried to install it. I've tried using it with Windows 98, 2000, NT and now XP. NEVER EVER EVER has anything worked the way Canon says it will. The scanner software creates errors in Excel and Access when it's installed. The fax sending software never worked - I ended up printing every fax I needed to send. The faxes sent manually mis-feed if there's more than 1 page. The print quality is spotty at best. Half the time, there's just splotches of ink instead of text. Forget about printing photos of any kind. Print speed is terrible - the cartridge runs back and forth and churns about 6 times before it starts feeding paper in, if it even does this. Making copies works o.k., but mostly it seems to work, the ink cartridge moves back and forth for about 1 min., then a "CHECK DOCUMENT" error flashes up and you have to start the whole process again.
I have been working with computers, printers, networks, etc. very heavily since 1992. No piece of hardware has ever been so frustrating.
So of the 4 'functions' on this machine, none work as expected. And Canon's tech support for this product is slow, and hasn't solved any of these problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, October 27, 2001

I'm not that keen on the scanning abilities (could be the user and not the machine though), but it prints, faxes, and copies beautifully for the money. Great for a home office, but I'm not printing brochures or graphics - just forms and such.

1.0 out of 5 stars help my printer is evil, December 6, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Canon MultiPASS C755 Multifunction (Office Product)
I bought the printer a year and a half ago and it has never worked for printing. It scans fine though. So in short its a pretty expensive scanner. I haven't tried to fax yet, i'm too scared. It absolutely will not print in black ink, and I will not pay more money to buy the entire ink cartridge. I think i will just buy a new printer instead. I am very unhappy with this printer, and have no way of getting it fixed properly. I have reinstalled the software more than 10 times, and my computer still fails to recognize it on occasion, leaving me to uninstall reinstall all over again. I absolutely do not recommend buying this printer.
