5.0 out of 5 stars Canon HTC-cable
The canon cable made a tremendous difference in the quality of the video when showing my home videos directly from my Canon HG10 vdeo camera to my high def television. The reolution on the video is as crisp and clear and colorful as anything that is shown from the studio in high definition. The cable was $10 cheaper buying it from Amazon rather than Canon direct. 1.0 out of 5 stars Beware: Not a Canon Product from ClearAV
I received a generic cable when I expected a Canon. This is false advertising. Do not buy from ClearAV. Now, I must go through the return process.

1.0 out of 5 stars Got a generic cable insted of Canon, July 3, 2009
This review is from: Canon HTC-100 Mini-HDMI Cable for Canon HD Camcorders (Electronics)
I expected a cable in a Canon packaging or at least with a Canon logo. But some generic cable has arrived in an unlabeled plastic bag. The cable itself bares UL # E252840, which belongs to a Chinese company. The seller said that he buys these cables in bulk and that is why they don't have the Canon's logo. He helped to arrange a fast return and refunded my money.

I'm on my third mini-HDMI to HDMI cable. I use it to connect my Canon Vixia HF 10 to HD plasma TV.

The first was a cheaper cable not advertised as Canon--didn't work.

The second WAS advertised as Canon, but did not come in Canon packaging and is not marked Canon and--doesn't work. $60 wasted there.

Third time's a charm. I ordered #3 directly from B&H and it arrived in Canon packaging AND IT WORKS!!

Don't waste your time or money on one of these cables unless you are absolutely sure it's going to be a genuine Canon item.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a genuine Canon cable -- Way overpriced for a generic, November 27, 2009

This review is from: Canon HTC-100 Mini-HDMI Cable for Canon HD Camcorders (Electronics)
Warning: This cable is listed as genuine Canon part: "Canon HTC-100 Mini-HDMI Cable for Canon HD Camcorders." however is it not. The seller CyberTech sent me a generic made-in-China HDMI cable in a plain plastic bag (tagged only as "HDMIT-2MM."). Estimated value is four dollars or less.

If you want the genuine Canon HDMI cable, search for its Canon part number 2384B001. Be prepared to spend about $50 for it.

I returned this cable and purchased a generic $4 "Male 19 pin HDMI Type A to M 19 pin mini HDMI Type C" cable from another vendor. It works just fine with my Canon 7D DSLR. Be very sure you need the genuine Canon part before you shell out big bucks for it.

By the way, I purchased a second generic 15-foot Type A to Type C HDMI from yet another vendor for about $6 and it works perfectly with my 7D. I find the 15-foot length is more practical for use with the live preview shooting on the 7D

The seller CyberTech did promptly refund the total amount of my order including outbound shipping cost (I guess I could afford to do that too if I was in the business of selling generic parts listed as genuine Canon at a 10x markup -- and most buyers couldn't tell the difference). Of course I still had the hassle and expense of the return shipping.

Consistent theme... I paid $30 + shipping to get the Canon cable from CiTi Electronics. What arrived was a generic. So, I contacted them and had to ship it back. Now they tell me they are out of Canon cables and offerred me a refund instead. What a scam. Seems like everyone is doing this trick so save yourself the hassle and DON'T BUY IT.

1.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Example of Consumer Fraud, November 29, 2010
This review is from: Canon HTC-100 Mini-HDMI Cable for Canon HD Camcorders (Electronics)
This listing is a perfect example of consumer fraud. Many reviewers have obviosly been fooled
or deceived by this listing and believe they received or were going to receive a Canon cable.
I asked the company and they responded this is "NOT an OEM cable made by Canon".

Look at the listing. It uses the Canon product photo exactly as used on the Canon site. The
title states "by Canon". The list price is $70 - the exact price Canon charges on its web site.
The add is intended to trick consumers into thinking they are buying a higher quality Canon
product. This is fraud.

The product is not produced by Canon. Others have statted the cable they receive is a cheap
knock-off made in China.

Selling a cable of this kind for $35 amounts to a scam. Consumers should contact anyone and everyone about this kind of exploitation of the American consumer. Start with your attorney general, and cc your complaint to Canon and Amazon.com, both of whom should know better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stick with Amazon.com, November 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Canon HTC-100 Mini-HDMI Cable for Canon HD Camcorders (Electronics)
I received my Canon HTC-100 HDMI Cable today from Amazon.com. After reading the mixed reviews it was apparent that all the low ball scores related to vendors other than Amazon proper. Accordingly I ordered mine from Amazon ($45.00) versus ($34.00) from some off the wall vendor. I might have paid a few bucks more but I got the real thing, a Cannon product. Works like a champ, very well constructed and professionally packaged. If you opt for X Brand substitute you'll probably be penning a 1 star review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works Great but There Are Cheaper Alternatives, January 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Canon HTC-100 Mini-HDMI Cable for Canon HD Camcorders (Electronics)
I bought this cable in May of 2009 and it was $47, I see now in January 2010 it's down to $35. It's fantastic, there is no comparison between using a composite cable (not really a surprise there). If you have a Canon Vixia this cable is a requirement.

What prompted me to write this review is that I got an HD Flip Cam for Christmas and it also uses Mini-HDMI. If you search for Flip Video HDMI cables you'll find that they have a two pack (one short and one long) that is selling for $25 right now.I've tried them and they work.
