1.0 out of 5 stars This will cover, but not PROTECT, your camera!
This case is effectively just a soft leather sheath. It has no strap or clip--just a belt loop--nor does it have storage for extra batteries or memory cards.

OK, so it's a classy little case, the price is right, and it fits the camera perfectly, but it fails at its basic purpose, which is to protect the camera. There is absolutely no padding or rigidity...

This review is from: Canon Soft Leather Case for Canon Digital ELPH Cameras (Black) (Electronics)
This camera case is constructed with good quality. The belt clip is quite handy. The small size gives you the option to slip the whole thing into the pocket. A reviewer suggested that the soft leather may not provide enough protection, but I think this camera case is a good compromise between size and protection. Really on a daily basis, the most fragile part of the camera is the LCD screen. This camera case would be sufficient to prevent scratches. There isn't a whole lot of reason to get a bulkier case and sacrifice the option to slip it into the pocket.

The fit for my S400 camera was too tight in the beginning, and it took some effort to get the camera out of the case. However, the leather stretched to fit the camera after a week or so. Now the fit is perfect.

What I don't particularly care for is the large, gold logo "Canon Elph" which I'm afraid invites undesirable attention.

If you have a Canon Digital Elph you need to get this case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific case, February 14, 2004

I was looking for -as compact as it gets- bag for my Canon S400. I didn't care about the spare compartemts or battery pockets, but I needed my small camera to remain small. Ordered this one from Amazon and received it three days later. It is high quality leather case with a nice belt attachement on the reverse side. The case is so small, camera hardy becomes larger when placed inside! Look elswhere if you want a backpack full of pockets for you camera... This is the elegance, not a backpack.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you don't like the gold print on this case.............., December 31, 2003

..............it can be easily and safely removed using a cloth dampened with either carbon tetrachloride or benzene. Rub it gently and it comes right off leaving the leather unmarked and undamaged. This is the perfect case for the ELPH series of Canon digicams from the S100 right up through the S400. I have had one for about 3 years now and they are hard to get! They were originally made for the Canon ELPH Jr. APS camera but stretch out just enough for the ELPH Sdigitals. If anyone knows where they are available (currently unavailable here on amazon.com) please let me know at prudhocjATolypenDAWTcom! I would like another one.

There is absolutely no padding or rigidity whatsoever, so when you put this compact little bundle into your purse or pocket, that vulnerable LCD screen remains just as vulnerable.

When (not if) you bonk something against that ill-protected screen, it will crack, and the $100+ repair will not be covered by your Canon warranty.

Ask me how I know this? My daughter, who purchased her Elph with Christmas money and a year's babysitting savings, has had hers for all of two weeks, and it's already on its way to the shop. I might add that this is NOT an irresponsible child, just one who carries pens and a calculator in her purse with the camera.

Avoid a similar scenario and spend a few bucks on a REAL case, please. Canon should be able to do better.

I use to have another case from Canon that had an extra pouch for extra CF memory cards, but this leather case just gets to the point. Leather case for the small camera and the camera only so no extra space. Hope that made sense, but yes, I recommend this case.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good fit for S500, January 4, 2005

It fits the S500 perfectly, but I noticed some complaints about the tightness. I just use the camera strap to pull it out and no problems at all. The lining on the case protrudes an extra 2 mm to protect your camera from side damage. No extra room for CF and battery, but no big deal since you can easily slip those in one of your MANY pockets or purse.

I have included a backside image of the case (see above) and I can tell you it is definitely a belp loop. I recommend this case if you just need an inexpensive small case to protect your camera from scratches.

I am a professional photographer. The Elph I have is my "play" camera. I got it because of it's size. The problem was it wasn't as convenient as I thought carrying it in my pockets. I found myself leaving it at home. SO>>>
I bought this soft leather case. It is exactly what it is supposed to be for me. A way to carry my Elph on my belt. I forget that I have it on. Until that really cool oppertunity arises. (Which, in San Francisco it does a lot)
The camera is right there at my side. Out in a second. I can take my photo and slip it back into the case with one hand.
Yes, it is a little snug when you first get it. But, this is soft leather and it "grows" with use. Fitting the camera perfectly.
It protects the camera from scratches. But, I wouldn't consider it as a protector, as much as a convenient way to wear the camera on a belt. The perfect case for people who are on the go as much as I am.

Great case, actually. Nothing fancy. No room for anything but the camera, but it's small, has a secure belt loop that will not leave you (unless your belt does). I tried to stuff some extra memory in the case--bad idea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits my new Canon S500 like a glove!, May 27, 2004

A really terrific deal with free UPS Ground Shipping from Amazon for a mere $11.39!! Quality construction out of durable butter-soft leather with a secure Velcro closure (across the entire width of the flap) will protect the surface of my brand new S500 Elph when not in use. What isn't shown in the image is the back of this case, which has a wide flush belt-loop to maintain its overall compact size. And, what appears to be a small divot in the top center of the image is actually a small opening for the wrist or neck strap. This is a lean accessory without any extra compartments for storage.

4.0 out of 5 stars OK fit for the S100/s110, July 31, 2001

This review is from: Canon Soft Leather Case for Canon Digital ELPH Cameras (Black) (Electronics)
Been trying to find a decent case for my s110 and noticed that my sister received a nice leather one with her APS canon elph kit. This case is almost exactly identical to hers with the exception of a belt loop. Did not like the psc100 soft case designed for the s100/s110 which my friend bought for his camera. It made the camera feel bulky in my pocket and I did not like the gray color scheme. The soft case S does not fit as snug as I had hoped. Basically, I wanted something that would protect my camera from scrathes and dirt. No complaints for the price that I paid for this case.
