I rate this book between the Magic Lantern series and the David Busch authored books. While I don't have the 5D2 Busch version yet [not yet out] the 50D set of both allows me to state this. All three are worth while. This one is a little more suited to sitting by the fire on a cold night than the Magic Lantern version. The Magic Lantern version is very good for carrying with you as a quick refresher though. This one is especially better than the Canon Manual. Easier to find things and more detail. Larger print too.

This book has not been updated to reflect all changes in the new Canon EOS 5D Mark II. It looks like they only changed the cover. New shooting modes are not acknowledged. I returned the book.

If you got the top dog of digital cameras then get this guide. It will help you bring your skills to the top with easy to read text and simple to read instructions. Not written like a manual with visuals and, illustrations and pictures. Great examples and even learn how to use video with help on selecting additional gear. A must have for any owner of Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

Most of the time I don't read books on how to use the camera because they are complicated and make things more confusing than they need to be. This book was full of photographs, had easy to use intructions and actually made it fun to learn more about my camera. I would highly recommmend this book to anyone with this camera from beginner to advanced.

The step-by-step instructions in the book are often incomplete or inaccurate. The small booklet that comes with the camera gives complete and accurate information on all features. There are too many obvious errors, also. I found only a few useful insights (though most 5D owners already know) in the book. If you are looking to find accurate and useful information beyond the owner's manual, you may be disappointed.

This field guide for the 5D Mark II is well written and easy to read. It includes tips throughout and refers you to other sections for review or additional information. I love the layout and the images included. It is great for a beginner photographer as it includes many basic photography lessons as well as the how-to with this camera in particular. I'm quite impressed with this educational treat. It is a very thorough guide.

Brian McLernon gives credit to no less than Nineteen people for their help in producing this book. It is apparent that the book is aimed at amateurs and professional who are obsessed with their new Mark II and are reaching for the stars (people like me).

Don't let me kid you. It is going to take me at least a whole year before I can learn by applying the lessons taught in this book. My present level is reflected in my ownership of a Canon EOS Rebel XSi. And I haven't even mastered that camera yet.

This Digital Field Guide actually covers applications of all the features of the 5D Mark II. If you already own or are thinking of buying this camera, you need this book. Don't even think about it. Just buy it. Heck, it cost next to nothing.

This book offers a very thorough guide that comes in an easy-to-read format! The author does a fantastic job of breaking everything down in a way that is easy to understand and access so that the process of learning this camera in great detail is streamline. The chapters and index are set up nicely so that one may jump right to a specific feature or you can go through the book page by page for a complete "tutorial" on the great Canon EOS 5D Mark II. ***Highly Recommended***

This is my third purchase of a Field Guide product as I have upgraded digital cameras. This book is a very complete guide on what some of the additional features, that we sometimes don't get a chance or remember how to use. This book helps to explain and expand how to use the features from the mfg's manual. HIghly recommended from me.

The Canon 5D Mk II Field Guide is an excellent book that offers extensive information about this camera and its many features. The layout makes it easy to read and find information and it is written to meet the needs of all levels of photographers. This book also serves as a practical photography guide by giving dozens of illustrated examples on how to best make use of this camera's many advanced features, including extensive sections on video, lenses and lighting. This book is highly recommended for anyone who owns or is considering buying the 5D Mk II.
