5.0 out of 5 stars Clarification on Woodworker's Review
The specs of the MP700 indicate it does NOT have a FAX so it can't "Fax well." Just wanted potential buyers to know. If you need a fax, get the MP730, but the scanner size is limited to letter size.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good printer but.....................
Having used my MP700 for approx 6 months the print quality of photos suddenly deteriorated, leaving colours jaded and lacking in vibrancy. Having used my MP700 for approx 6 months the print quality of photos suddenly deteriorated, leaving colours jaded and lacking in vibrancy. Not suspecting my (almost) new printer I replaced my Olympus digital camera with a top of the range Fuji. No difference. I then spent the next 7 months playing around with different settings and different types of photo paper, to no avail. I then replaced my entire PC, still not thinking the printer could be the problem. When this also failed to improve matters it started to occur to me that it must be the printer, but what? I had always used genuine Canon ink carts, I was using top quality glossy photo paper, then it was suggested that the print head may have failed. I purchased a new one at a cost of £70 ($130) as by now the printer was one month out of warranty. Problem solved, well, for 4 months anyway, as the problem is now back, big and bad as ever. Canon have refused to accept any responsibility, simply referring me to their dealer who tells me there is only 3 months warranty on these heads, so I have to buy yet another one. So if you are considering buying one of these otherwise excellent printers be prepared to spend £70 on a new print head every 100 or so sheets!

2.0 out of 5 stars Printhead failures common?, January 15, 2006
This review is from: Canon MultiPass MP700 Color Multifunction (Office Product)
I've had this printer for over a year now and for the past 6 months, the print quality has been terrible. This month, it won't print at all and I've been told I need to buy a new printhead which will cost at least $70. I've tried cleaning the printhead, doing any possible maintenance I could and none of this helped. I have always used Canon ink cartridges and never abuse this printer. Reading the last review makes me wonder if it will be worth it to replace the printhead or just invest in a new printer. I've never had a printhead problem with any other printer I've owned (at least 3 others over a span of several years).

Excellent product. Good customer service. Note that this unit hooks up with a 2.0 USB port (most older pc's have the 1.1 ports). It's easy to clean the printer and adjust the head with the click of the mouse!

I have purchased this printer 8 months back from Amazon. Great price on the net. I have been using the printer for ever since. THe printe quality is very good. Scanner and Fax works great. I even print photographs and a lot of material for home and my child's school projects.

I would recommend this product.

3.0 out of 5 stars printhead problem, March 5, 2006

This review is from: Canon MultiPass MP700 Color Multifunction (Office Product)
I've had the Canon MP730 printer for over a year and up til now have LOVED it. Its very easy to use for scanning, faxing, copying and printing. However, a week ago the print quality began deteriorating and even though there is ink in all the cartridges, yellow and blue don't print well. I've cleaned the nozzles, realigned the print and even reseated the printhead. Nothing resulted in any positive changes. I'm a little concerned about spending $70 on a new printhead when I've read that other people have replaced it only to have it malfunction in a few short months...

3.0 out of 5 stars Problems with printhead too, February 28, 2006
This review is from: Canon MultiPass MP700 Color Multifunction (Office Product)
I'm afraid I will add to the list of people experiencing problems with the MP700 printhead. After all sort of tries, I am now at the point where I decided to buy a new printer rather than a new printhead. And I am not taking a Canon as it is the second time I experience critical problems with them (feed with BJC6000, and printhead with MP700), despite a great grace period where I was pleased with the overall perfomance and user interface to the printer. To be fully honest, I havbe to admit I also refilled my cartridges with supposedly compatible ink, so this could possibly have had an effect on the poor head !

3.0 out of 5 stars Great until printhead went south, April 12, 2006

Add me to the list of people who loved this printer when it worked. My black is the only color that went out, but I do a serious amount of text printing. I couldn't tell you how many thousands of pages I've printed. I think I'm going to buy a laser multifunction and then get a dedicated photoprinter.

Only had this for 2 days, so I'm sure something will rattle me eventually, but so far this is a great product. Fast, high quality pictures and print. Good copies. Easy to set up. Good deal so far.
