One of the PC980's more enticing features is Canon's Single Cartridge System. Everything you would likely need to replace is contained in one cartridge, so maintenance becomes a no-brainer. The PC980 also boasts zero warmup time (read: very fast) and automatic shutoff, features that not only provide convenience but save energy as well.
The 500-sheet paper cassette is complemented by a 30-sheet automatic document loader so that you're not left micromanaging your copy jobs. Canon offers a three-year limited parts and labor warranty.

Canon PC980 Copier,
By
This review is from: Canon PC980 Personal Copier (Office Product)
I have had several Canon copiers over the years. All have been very cost efficient to run, which is why I bought the PC 980 in August of 2002. I bought mine used at an auction (live auction where I could try it first) with an extra cartidge for $125.00. It warms up instantly, the paper feed works fine. I like the zoom/reduction feature as well as the generous paper capacity. Two drawbacks I've noticed: 1) The machine does not run well if it is too cool in the room - It starts to make an abnormal grinding noise if the room temperature is cool. My office equipment repair person said that is characteristic of this model. So if you like to keep your room temperature below 64* don't buy one. But at a normal room temperature of say 68* it works fine. 2) I have seen better quality copies from other Canon and HP copiers, so make sure the print quality meets your needs before buying. I use the machine in a relatively low volume home office where I do business and software consulting. This machine has been replaced by newer better designed models. However they are more expensive and I've found the PC980 to be a good lower cost alternative to some of the higher cost machines. I hope this review is helpful. Michael D. Zarum

Stay away from this turkey!!!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Canon PC980 Personal Copier (Office Product)
Purchased one in Feb, 2002 - since that time it has gone to 2 repair centers, in the last 7 weeks I have had 4 replacement "refurbished" copiers. None has been able to do more than ONE copy at a time. So much for their "30 page automatic feed". Canon will do nothing more than continue to send out another turkey with the same problem. With 9 months still left on the warranty, I am buying a Brother copier. No more Canon products for me!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Canon PC980 Personal Copier (Office Product)
Bought this used, because Canon no longer makes this model. I completely wore out my first PC980 after 8 years of very hard use. I had purchased a laser copier, but needed the depth of a photocopier. Even "used", this machine still beats the other new units I tested at the store.
