2.0 out of 5 stars No more canons
Bought two of these from Amazon and setup the first one ok.
Then thought i should try out the second one just in case it didnt work while still under warranty. I didn't want to waste the two ink tanks as i was only going to make sure it printed ok then put it back in the box. So i took out the cartridges from the first one to try in the second one and got an error...

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome cost effective printer, January 20, 2006
This review is from: Canon PIXMA iP6220D Photo Printer (Office Product)
I purchased this product for Christmas from Staples as it was cheaper at the time. I am in love with this printer. It creates high quality photo's quickly. It has several great features included and does come with handy software for making adjustments either on your PC or on the printer itself.
One thing I must say however, is that the type of photo paper you are using makes a HUGE difference. Epson Premium Glossy is by far the best when used with this. It is, in all honestly, difficult to tell the difference between a digitally printed photo and a traditional film photograph.
The printer itself is very cost effective for those with a budget in mind. The only thing that is missing from the package is the much needed USB female/female cord to attach it to the pc for a direct pc print.
The unit does take several types of memory cards and has a very clean viewing screen.
On board controls are very user friendly and even has some extra nifty printing features such as sepia toning.
I really recommend this printer for those wanting an outstanding photo at an even better price!

Great printer at an outstanding price. Prints great photos and other items from your computer. The negatives, costly ink cartridges and they don't last long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice for the Price, February 6, 2007

Purchased new from reseller for less than $50. Picture and text printing are outstanding. Easy to set up. LCD screen is clear and informative. Footprint is a little big and printing speed is not the fastest but great second printer for use with my laptop. I have a primary multifunction Canon which has been printing reliably for 2 years. Certainly worth the cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Printers don't come with cables, October 30, 2007

I'm only reviewing to let people know that in all the printers I have bought in the last several years, they have NEVER come with a cable. So read the box which will not list a cable in the contents. It's not very fair to rate a printer with 1 star because it didn't come with a cable, which you would have known if you'd read the box.

And I have found it is better to just go all out and buy the ink cartridges made by canon. The others do clog up your ink ports and there is pretty much no way of fixing this yourself. It's taken me 4 printers to figure this out. Now, I only buy the expensive ink made for the machines. It's more money, but I don't have to buy a new printer every year either.

I hope this helps with future printer purchases

4.0 out of 5 stars A printer that does everything well, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Canon PIXMA iP6220D Photo Printer (Office Product)
The seller advertised that this was part of a camera bundle. I received it promptly in the original box (darn, he took the camera!). It prints documents and photos with great quality and is much faster than my 4 year old HP deskjet. I was prepared to pay twice as much at a retailer for this printer but as part of a camera bundle I got a GREAT DEAL!

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the prints, given the low price of this printer. I have no regrets over this purchase. Set up intstructions were clear and easy to follow. On screen menus are easy to follow. You can print directly from your memory card without even using a computer. All in all, I would highly recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars As Always, The Ink Is Expensive, But the Printer Is..., February 27, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Canon PIXMA iP6220D Photo Printer (Office Product)
a really great little printer. This printer replaced another Canon that I had had for about three years. The printhead finally went out on that one, and if you have ever replaced a printhead, you know that they are expensive, and sometimes the new one doesn't last very long.

I have had this printer for about a year now, and I paid about $10.00 more for it than the cost of a new printhead, so it is a great value. This printer takes 9 different camera cards and has a small display that you can look at your pictures in prior to printing, without having to go to the computer.

The output, no matter what you are printing, is excellent. I am sitting here looking at a photo calendar I printed for 2009, and it looks like it was done in a lab. It just prints really, really good photos.

The printer takes 2 multi-color ink cartridges, one being a standard tri-color cartridge and the other a tri-color photo cartridge. They each cost about $25.00. At this point, I have spent enough on ink to buy another printer or two. Isn't that the way it's supposed to work?

The printer software will try to tell me the ink cartridge is nearly empty way prematurely. Like, I will have 3-6 weeks of ink left when it starts to nag me to change the ink. When I first got the printer, I bought that once. I thought the ink cartridge that came with the printer started out low. Nope, next time around, same thing. Now, I just ignore the warning and wait until I can see for myself a degradation in printing output. This is my only dislike for this printer, and why it gets 4 stars instead of 5.

The footprint of the printer is kind of wide, kind of tall, but not very deep. Mine doesn't take up much room on a standard printer stand. It is a reasonably attractive printer.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this printer!, November 17, 2007
This review is from: Canon PIXMA iP6220D Photo Printer (Office Product)
I have had 4 photo printers over the last 6 years. I have spent over $250 on each of them when the last one finally died. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on another one since we go through them so quickly. I honestly wasn't expecting much due to the cheap price. I was so wrong! I love this printer! Honestly it has better quality than any of our other printers we have owned. It prints so quickly too! I have no issues as far as noise goes either, it is very quiet. The ink cartridges seem to last a long time too! I convinced my husband we would get it because it was cheaper than buying ink cartridges and we would just sell it when they ran out and buy a color lazer printer...he's convinced now that we don't need the lazer printer!
