The camera comes with a lithium ion battery and a wall charger. The battery fits directly into the compact charger and the whole unit plugs into a wall socket. The battery seems to last well and charging generally does not take much time. There are lights in the charger to let you know when the battery is ready and the unit will stop charging when the battery is full so as not to burn it out.
Hello, when you put a memory card in the camera, the camera uses the card capacity and camera settings to put the estimated number of pictures that can be taken on the rear display of the camera. Yes, the camera has a built in flash in the upper right hand corner of the front of the camera. Thanks, and let us know if you have any other questions.

The up-down button also goes right left. You press function, scroll to timer where by default it says "off". Step to the right where the highlighter will land again on "off". Now scroll down. to 10 sec., 1 sec., and set custom timer. Custom timer will show a default of 10 sec. When you hit Menu from there you can change that to whatever time you want.
