Great package at a very good price. This camera works as advertised, very pleased with this purchase. Manual is a little overwhelming at first, just take a couple of days to absorb all the info. This camera is easy to use, has all the right features and is a nice upgrade to my first digital camera a Olympus 300.

A while back I purchased my wife this camera for Xmas and she was so impressed with it I recently got one for myself. I think for the average person this is a great little camera that will handle most photo situations. Both have been trouble free and a joy to use and we enjoy looking at the results on the computer.

I went the Consumer Reports route when buying this, my first digital camera, and I'm pleased. Though the A720 wasn't listed, the Canon family of cameras received high marks. Through Consumer Reports, I was able to determine what features were important and what got me the most bang for the buck. I encourage people to turn towards CR before making any substantial purchase. As a disclaimer, I neither work for CR, nor am I a member.
As far as the camera, I'm pleased. For the amount paid, the camera has almost too many features for the average Joe/Josephine who wants to take snapshots. But, with some practice, I'm starting to get the hang of things. Be patient with the manual, and practice a lot before venturing from home with the camera but without the it! My biggest concern was whether the camera would work AT ALL with my computer. I own an iMac, but the operating system is too old (10.1.5) for what's recommended on the camera's box (10.3, or 10.4). The included software wouldn't even load, as it recognized my older OS and told me so. But, I took my first photo, plugged the camera in to the USB port, opened up my iPhoto 1.0 from 2001, and it immediately recognized my camera. I can fully manipulate the camera/photos to the limits of my old software. It was simple, intuitive, and fast. That's really all I wanted; perhaps some of the thanks belongs to Apple?! |
