5.0 out of 5 stars I love this camera
This is a great camera. The price is right and it takes wonderfully clear pictures. Very easy to use. The only thing that is a minus is that the batteries only lasted for about 25 pictures. Otherwise, I wouldn't change anything about it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not to the mark
I think that the camera works OK. It is not a steal buy. Pros: Its battery is very economically used and goes a long way before getting discharged. Cons: It takes a while to adjust and sometimes you get hazy pics even with its inbuilt anti-shake technology.

The only thing that I noticed that was different from what I expected:

To take a flash picture, you have to manually lift to open the flash. On my Fuji, if you need a flash it pops up automatically.

This was a Xmas present for my daughter. She wants to be a photographer. I was looking for something mid-stream for her to try. I'm not quite ready to invest in a top of the line camera. I am amazed at the features this camera has. I got it at the sale rate on Black Friday, which was just slightly more than $200, so the price was even better.

There are many features that we haven't experimented with yet, but even on auto the clarity is awesome. I wasn't sure when we took the first few pics, because they look a little grainy. But then when you go back to review them, they are crystal clear, even the action shots.

I had done my research pretty thoroughly, and then also talked with the folks at Best Buy and was informed that this is one of the best rated cameras. I have to agree. So if you're looking for something better than your average digital camera, but aren't ready to spend $1,000 for the top of the line, this is the best deal around.

Love the way it operates especially zooming and getting clear pictures. Tried it out in the Grand Canyon. Everyone was amazed.

The only thing I wish it had is a viewfinder for when the sun is too bright and you cannot see anything in the LCD screen except your own reflection.

This is my first digital camera, so can't compare to others, but I chose it based on Consumer Reports recommendations and specific criteria that I had: 1)sized to fit in a purse/small bag, 2)took regular alkaline batteries, 3)maximum zoom, 4)price about $200. I have a good history with 2 SLR Canons, so that helped too. It is a great small size and shaped to hold easily with one hand. A big zoom; however, the camera is very difficult to stabilize on full zoom. Lots of setting options and great feature of a separate on/off with auto shut off, so you don't waste batteries and don't have to reset it when you turn it back on. The worst things are the delay in shooting, but I expected that as I read it is common with all digitals, and the flash setting which is not automatic on some settings. Bundle was a bonus for the price (equal to WalMart), with good memory card (camera came with only 128mb card) and reader, but the bag is too big to put in anything else, and the tripod is miniature.

This is a very good camera, especially for the price. I wanted a camera that would take quality pictures and not require me to learn a bunch of settings. Other than turning the flash on and off, I've used the auto picture for everything. The red eye correction works beautifully. Some members in my family always get red eye with other point-and-shoots, but this camera shows no red eye. The image stabilization also seems to be working.

The only downside of the camera is the use of AA batteries.

The case is very big, especially given the size of this camera. The SD card is small by today's standards. The card reader is always nice to have around. I haven't tried the tripod yet, although it seems small.

everything seems to work as advertised. tripod is a little skimpy but works. surprised by the short battery life but most of the cameras in the past i was able to recharge by plugging into a holder. maybe it's more noticeable. i carry extra batteries. carrying case is ample and allows for extra items. so far so good. oh yeah...picture quality and ease are excellent.

The camera bag was bigger than I expected or wanted, but I suppose it will work well if you wanted to carry lots of spare batteries, all the cords and maybe a small guidebook or something. I was hoping for something just large enough for the camera and a set of spare batteries. This bag could easily hold 3 of these cameras. I also was not wild about the zip closure -- it is u-shaped and somewhat difficult to maneuver around the angles to get the camera case open.

The tripod is small but I expected that. What I did not expect was the smell. The tripod is wrapped in plastic inside its own small box so nothing else in the package is contaminated, but the tripod and its packaging REEK of something I can only describe as raw rubber. It smells like the tripod is made from pieces of a tire that someone recently spun against pavement for about 3 hours.

I have not tried the memory card, lens cleaner or card reader yet, but I assume they will all be fine.

I got this package because I thought it was only slighly more expensive than purchasing the camera alone, and some of the accessories included would be worth it. Assuming the memory card is fine, I think that alone justifies the purchase of this bundle. I will probably buy a new smaller case for the camera and will use another small tripod I already owned.

As for the camera, I haven't used it enough yet to review it well but overall I'm very happy with the pictures I've taken in the last 2 days though a few were blurry and I still need to practice. The batteries have lasted fine for me but I haven't used the flash often.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product at that price, February 8, 2010
This review is from: Canon Powershot SX120IS Digital Camera Bundle w/ 4GB SD Memory, Card Reader, Case, Tripod and Lens Cleaning Kit (Electronics)
I bought one Canon SX 110 IS in 2008, took 2100 photos during my Christmas 2008 trip in Viet Nam. The pictures were excellent. I gave it to my brother and bought a new one SX 120IS for my recent trip in Xmas 2009 and took about 2400 photos (see some of this: [...]). They are very good too. The only thing I complaint is that I can not have a date printed in the photo (may be I didn't know how to set it. Someone can help me? vietnamph@gmail.com). I gave it to my uncle and am trying to find out something better with that price but it seems that I will buy it again.
