Ever since I started using a Canon camera (the old F model of the late Sixties), I have followed the rule that it is better to spend one's money on good glass than slightly better body quality. I chose this model over the XSi because of the price difference. The two megapixels more was not worth the $155.00 extra to me, and a year of use confirms my decision. As does the comparison by Bob Atkins. The dollars I saved went to buying a 7D this year, a major body quality upgrade, and the dollars saved from buying that rather than a 5D are going toward another first class lens. Make no mistake, this is a first class camera for almost any kind of photography. It is five star quality all the way across the board, and I recommend it highly to anyone on a tight budget.

My husband bought this camera (body only) to use for deep space Astrophotography. The camera is very easy to use - even those without experience with a DSLR camera (those like my husband) should easily be able to figure out how to use it and be able to take great photographs straight out of the box. We haven't used the camera for regular photography as of yet (I'm still looking at and debating various lenses) but I have no doubt that it will take excellent quality photographs as we have had great results with deep space images.

I was informed to buy this camera without a lens because the lenses available to purchase are much better. I bought the 50mm lens, and it is great. I suggest buying some sort of zoom lens though because you will want to be able to zoom in and zoom out.

I had previously had a Canon EOS (non-digital) and still had lenses that I wanted to use. My old lenses fit this new digital camera perfect. Still learning how to take better pictures, but with this Canon EOS Rebel I think I am on my way to being a better photographer.

This camera is exactly what I was looking for, works perfect with my Canon lenses and performs even better than my old film Canon EOS Rebel. I will be using it for a long time, although the 10.1 MP won't be enough soon. I'm using it with an EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM wide angle lens and an EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS zoom lens. Both work accurately and fast

I'm a big fan of the Canon Rebel XS. It's the first DSLR I ever owned. I first bought one for my parents; after using it, I liked it so much I bought one for myself.

I ended up getting the body only because I wanted to try other lenses. I got a Canon f1.8/50mm lens, and a Tamron 17-55mm/f2.8 lens. Both lenses are good enough to take any type of regular photograph.

The build quality is great. It has a solid construction and it seems like it can handle lots of rough handling. Use common sense obviously; don't drop the thing! But I'm not worried about throwing it in a book bag or suitcase to take with me.

The ISO is not as good as some of the higher end cameras. Night photos all look grainy; I have to edit the noise out using Adobe Lightroom.

This camera has everything you need if you want to start learning photography.

I bought this camera a few years ago for my high school class, we were moving from film and the darkroom and into the digital realm. My P&S wasn't cutting it so this was the next step. I have been happy with my results for quite some time, the quality, the clarity, everything. I love having the ability to use EF and EF-S lenses, I recently added the 24-105 L lens and have had stunning results.

That being said, I'm getting more serious into photography and am looking to finally upgrade the body of my arsenal.

Overall, I have been very happy with this camera, it was easy to get the hang of, it takes excellent pictures, and it was very lightweight. I highly recommend it to anyone getting into photography or for anyone who is just looking for a step up from their Point & Shoot.

I really wanted to get into photography but didn't have much of a budget to do so, so after a photography friend's recommendation, I purchased this camera with high hopes. It is fantastic. The first few weeks I had it, I took it everywhere with me. It gets clean and crisp shots and because it doesn't take video, the battery seems to last forever! Yeah, it's not a super high-end camera with all the bells and whistles, but this is a great starter camera for someone wanting to get into photography.
