Product Description

Canon's EOS Rebel T1i admirable performance with 15.1 Megapixel Canon CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 Image Processor, a 3.0-inch Clear View LCD with anti-reflective and scratch-resistant coating, and compatibility with the EOS System of lenses and Speedlites, the EOS Rebel T1i adds remarkable Full HD video capture at resolutions up to 1920 x 1080. A HDMI port allows for quick connections to high definition TVs and monitors for easy viewing of your stills and video. The entire operation is simple and easy even if you are a beginner. You will have uncompromised EOS Digital performance with power and flexibility right in the palm of your hand. Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS SLR Lens: Canon's latest optical Image Stabilizer (IS) technology provides up to 4-stop compensation for image blur caused by camera shake and slow shutter speeds. Photographers normally shooting handheld at 1/250 sec can switch on IS to obtain a similarly steady and blur-free result with a shutter speed of just 1/15 second. The inclusion of automatic panning detection makes it easier for photographers to track wildlife and other moving subjects. Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens: It is designed with Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer technology and is compact and light. This high zoom ratio lens is equivalent to a focal length of 88-400mm in the 35mm format. The image stabilizer effect is equivalent to a shutter speed about 4 stops faster than the same size lens without Image Stabilizer. In other words, if the slowest shutter speed you could formerly hold a 250mm lens steadily was 1/250th of a second, with Canon's 4-stop stabilization correction, you could hand-hold at shutter speeds as slow as 1/15th of a second. It also uses a UD-glass lens element to correct chromatic aberration for excellent image quality throughout the zoom range. 8 GB Deluxe Accessory Kit: Loaded with extremely useful accessories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the novice/intermediate., November 5, 2010

This review is from: Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.1 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with Accessory Kit (Electronics)
This package has it all to start taking high quality photos for anyone ranging from the novice to intermediate camera user. The kit has everything you need to open it up, charge the battery and start running around snapping photos. I have always loved Canon cameras and this camera is so easy to use. I got it for me and my wife to snap pictures of our two young children as no matter how good your point and shoot camera is, it just doesn't have the speed and quality of DSLRs. We seemed to always "just miss" the perfect moment. This camera is turned on in a second and focuses lightning quick. I love it. I have had some photography training in the past and I can assure you, this camera can do a whole lot of what an average photographer will need. The extra money for the 250mm zoom lens WITH IS is worth it. Don't try to take pictures with a zoom without one. The case is a little flimsy, but works for now. i will probably upgrade it to a nice backpack, but that is in the future. The description says it comes with Digital Photo for Dummies, but it comes with Gift Cards for Dummies, as the picture shows. Not really a big deal, just thought I would mention it.

The only things you will need that aren't in this package are 1) a better SDHC card. The 8GB it comes with is only a class 2, which writes at 2 Mb/s, compared to a class 6 that writes at 6 Mb/s. This will slow your time between pictures down, but to start, it's OK. 2) an external flash, but save up your money for a nice one, not the $50 ones you see on here. The recharge time of the cheap flashes is way too long. 3) A remote to work the camera from the front. This is key if you have a family and would like to take family pictures out and about with the tripod. It makes it much easier than setting the timer and go running to the family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Package! Highly Recommend for New DSLR Users, September 23, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.1 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with Accessory Kit (Electronics)
This package is absolutely fantastic and includes everything you need (and some things you don't) to start shooting DSLR photos. See brief summaries below:

Camera: Absolutely a great camera. With the rumor of the XS and XSi series going end-of-sale in the near future the T1i is the next logical choice in terms of cost vs. quality. I spent countless hours comparing the T1i to the Nikon equivalent and am absolutely in love with this camera.

Lenses: This is potentially one of the biggest reasons to purchase this package! The kit lens (18-55mm) is standard with any purchase but the 55-250mm IS lens would cost you another $250 in addition to the camera! Both lenses are high quality Canon lenses so I was not disappointed in the least by their versatility.

Camera Bag: Very nice bag with shock protection, ample storage, and shoulder strap. Provides storage for up to 2 bodies and 4 lenses. Not incredibly large (at least I don't think so) and can carry all of the equipment included in this package (minus the tripod and books).

Tripod: I was really expecting this to be a pretty cheap and useless tripod but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it holds up very nicely and is easy to transport if you loop it though the shoulder strap of the included bag. Includes multiple levels and is easy to figure out without the included directions.

SD Card and Battery: The SD card is an 8GB PNY SD card and has been reliable so far (as it should). The extra battery is very nice to have as you can leave one fully charged in your bag and let the other one in the camera. If the one in the camera dies, swap batteries and re-charge the spare when you get home. Ultimately I have found this provides between 4-5 hours of constant shooting.

Other stuff: While the other stuff is nice to be included it is not absolutely required. The included video is dated but nice for intro and the book, cleaning kit, and other stuff are what you would expect.

Overall this is a great package that I would highly recommend for anyone getting into the DSLR hobby.
