A great printer, a great price.,

This review is from: Canon S300 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I can't praise this printer enough. I haven't owned an inkjet printer, so maybe I'm easily impressed. But from the moment I brought it home, this printer has exceeded my expectations. The S300 is quite small, so it fit easily into my (somewhat cramped) office. It was very easy to hook up to my computer and install the drivers on Windows. The written instructions were clear, and the driver installation program guided me through the head calibration task in no time. After that, everything just worked. I printed out a few color images and web pages just for fun, and have since used it quite often to print out verious tax-related documents and letters. The print quality is impressive, even on plain paper. The printing speed is fine for most documents. And the little extras like automatic power on/off make the printer a joy to use. I expected to have to pay twice what I did to get a printer I was happy with. At around $100, this printer is astoundingly good. A word of warning: the ink cartridges for this printer are quite small, so if you're looking for a home office printer, you should probably get something more industrial-stength. However, if you only need to print a few pages every now and then, but still want reasonable print quality, then the S300 is ideal for you.

very nice printer- but needed new ink after ~100 pages.,

setup was easy. print beautiful, quick. price great. after having lexmark printers, i shopped with regard to replacement ink prices. canon replacement ink prices seemed reasonable. after purchase, i saw the ink tanks were tiny (9ml black, 5mlx3 color). my old lexmark tanks don't indicate volume, but they look to be 3 times larger than the canon. with the lexmark, i was getting 6 months(about 1000 pages) of printing. with the canon, i used up the black ink after only about 100 pages (half of them cd covers) in 16 days. print quality was set at "standard"- and did not "clean heads" or do other ink-wasting activities. i got far less than the 300 pages the manual says you'll get, esp. when you consider the number of pages that were plain cd covers. i used the tank until it failed- did not replace when the warning came up (worked for about 20 pages). i haven't done much color printing yet, only a few photos and mixed documents. i'm sure the color won't last long, either (manual says 170 pages). i recommend the printer, but be sure to have replacement ink tanks on hand.

Canon S300 Printer is Very Good,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Canon S300 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
This is an excellent printer for the price. I print text, graphics and photos and it does a very good job and is fast. The ink lasts surprisingly long given the size of the cartridges. I expect you would really have to go to the high end (...) before you would see a printer significantly different for the price (I looked around quite a bit). I am satisfied and recommend this printer.

Wow!,

This review is from: Canon S300 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
Just purchased this printer for my kid's birthday. I thought [for that price you] can't buy anything good these days. Boy, was I wrong! Without much expectation I plugged this thing in and gave it a test run. It printed totally dazzling 8.5x11 photo in just under 3 minutes!! [The] HP 1115 at my work did much poorer job in about 7 minutes. Bottom line is: don't get fooled by the [inexpensive] looks of this printer. This is definetely a diamond in the rough. Get it and spend that extra [money you save] on catridges and photopaper. You will not be disappointed; simply amazing product!

Best Price/Performance value among sub $100 printers,
By A Customer
This review is from: Canon S300 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
After comparing HP/Epson/Canon & read countless reveiws, I bought this printer since it is the best all-around printer in the current market...my general impression after months of using this printer are as follow:Pros: 1)small footprint 2) I've used this printer to print a lot photos taken by a 2MP digital camera on glossy photo papers & the result are simply amazing which rivals the lab processing photo. (it is also recommende that you match your monitor's color display with canon printer via Photoshop's print utility)& nobobay believed that the photo is coming from a $[money] printer. 3) low cost of cartridge($[money] for black & $[money] for color) that won't break you like other brands that sell you cheap printer but charge obsene price on replacement cartridge. 4) very quiet during printing & it's very fast too for normal home use. 5) the cost/performance value simply the best in the market(it's a shame that amazon raised the price of this printer by $[money]after I purchased it) but it's still a good value though. Cons: 1) takes about 20 sec. to do self-cleaning/set-up when first power on, this is probably the only complain so far on this printer based on all reviews that i read, no major complain about the performance or quality of this printer yet. (but hey it takes longer to boot your MS Windows every time you turn on you pc ....so the printer is ready before your pc does...) For an average home use, low cost(both printer & cartridge), good quality, quiet & fast priter, Canon s300 just fits the bill for me.

Big on Quality Small on Ink Tanks,
By A Customer
This review is from: Canon S300 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
This printer is capable of outstanding performance. I have printed photos on Office Depot Premium High Gloss Photo Paper and gotten PERFECT PRINTS. My only objection to this printer is the small size of the ink tanks. They do not last long. I have shopped around and found BestBuy the cheapest place to buy new cartridges. It is not recommend to refill the bci-24 because it does not have an attatched print head and for some reason refilling increases risk of damaging print head. $99 to replace head. I would recommend this printer.

This Printer Rocks For The Price,

The Canon S300 outperforms most printers costing twice the price. I checked out numerous models from various manufacturers and I bought the lowest priced printer of all, the S300. Text and graphic output is stunning. Plus, this printer is unbelievabley FAST! The S300 even out performs higher end models from Canon! I don't know how Canon can sell a printer of this quality for under a $(...). Some say the S300 looks ugly and boxy but I LIKE its styling.(12/27/01) A month later and this printer STILL rocks for the price. I found that the printer requires some tweaking. There are numerous color, brightness, contrast and other controls in the printer driver software. Configuring these settings AND using glossy photo paper will yield some jaw-dropping results. Text is speedy and crisp. I would buy this printer again in a heartbeat!

Great quailty print jobs. It is a vast improvement over my old Canon 4300. For an (inexpensive) printer, the speed and quality are excellent.

Good printing too much whirring and clicking,
By A Customer
This review is from: Canon S300 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
This is a good printer no doubt about it. The speed is superb for the price and the quality is excellent. The reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the amount of time the thing spends "cleaning its print heads and capping the ink tanks" which is what tech support tells me all the whirring and clicking is all about. When you turn it on it will spend 20-30 seconds whirring and clicking. If you don't print anything for a little while it will spend another 20-30 seconds doing the same thing as goes into a kind of resting mode. When you decide to print again guess what another 20-30 seconds of activity. When you turn it off another 20-30 seconds of mucking about. What worries me is that it sounds like something has broken inside the printer while its doing this but tech support assures me its normal. The speed of printing per page is rather irrelevant when it spends so long doing this... I like the separate ink cartidge as well. I've set mine up for b/w printing so that I can save the ink in the expensive color cartridge for when I really need it.

Greatest Little Printer in TOWN,
By
This review is from: Canon S300 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I print about 400 copies a month most financial analyses and some WEB articles. I just bought an HP 1115 Photosmart Printer. After an initial week of massive paper jams I returned the printer --based on advice from the HP support group and bought this printer instead. You take it out of the box - load the software and GO. It really pushes out black and white fast and the color is just fine. THIS is a fine printer and a real bargain.
