Do Not Buy Anything Else,
By "kidquick" (Virgina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Canon S600 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I have owned Epsons, HPs, Xerox's and Canons. This is the best one of all. First i got the HP1100 photosmart back in January 2000. It was pretty much top of the line then. I didnt think much would top it for speed and photo quality. But once i started to see some photo printers out on the market, i realized the HP 1100 was NOT really for total photo quality, it was more of a speedy really nice color printer. so i bought a Canon 8200 due to the reviews i had seen in Popular Photography magazine. I Still have it. They said it was #1 so i took their word for it. They were right. It beats everything in photos. Hands down. I heard a lot about the Epson 870 for photos so i bought that just to see if it was better than my 8200 for a couple weeks. it printed really nice pictures, very close to my 8200 from canon but its slow performance and high ink costs forced me to take it back early. Hearing about the new S600 from Canon with higher resolution than their 8200 i figured i'd try that one too. IT ROCKS. ITS MUCH MUCH faster than my 12 page a minute HP 1100 and the photos are just out right astonishing. (gave the HP 1100 away) Any picture i can take, it can print. If i need a 20 page report when i'm running out the door, i get it quickly between using the bathroom and finding my car keys. the manual says the black cartrdige goes 695 pages. You know me, i have to try it. YES, i wasted a whole ink cartridge and tons of paper just to see. OK, so i'm a nerd. Anyways, i printed 768 pages before the well ran dry. At [the price] for that many pages, i'm not tyring to buy no other printer. I LOVE cheap ink cartridges! you buy the printer once but you pay for ink for the next 4 years. SPEED and beautiful photos wrapped up in one; It wasnt possible unitl now. I found it in the Canon S600 and i hope you do too.

Something's Not Right,
By Eli (Seattle, WA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Canon S600 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I still can't believe I paid [such a good price] for this machine. It is absolutely amazing. I don't know why Canon has offered such an amazing printer with such great quality for a price this low, it just doesn't seem right. I recently bought the CanonScan N122OU (another equally impressive canon acessory) and up until a week ago was in desparate need of a high quality printer. I can scan photo prints at 1200dpi on the scanner, then print the images out at 1200dpi on the printer. If you compare the original photo to a the printed version on photo paper, you will honestly have a hard time trying to tell them apart. Everything you've read is true. It's fast, quiet, uses high quality ink that is [inexpensive]and uses it efficiently. I've purchased many things from Amazon in the past and this is the only thing I've ever been motivated to write about. If you're at all interested in having an extremely high quality printer for a price far below what it's worth. Look no further.

Amatuer digital photographer,

This is the first printer I have owned and used at home so I really have nothing to compare it to other than the HP laser we have at the office. That said, I am very happy with this printer. I have been using it with my Koday DC280 digital camera (also purchased from Amazon after careful research), with excellent results. The pictures I just printed from a recent camping trip are virtually indistinguishable from 35 mm prints. Now don't get me wrong, you can tell the difference, but only with close inspection. For quick and easy pictures, I really like using the 4x6 Canon Glossy Photo Cards which are just as good as the Canon photo paper pro for about $4 less. I also looked at the S800 when shopping for a printer. The only difference I could see was the print speed was faster on the S800 and I think it uses a different type of ink. Whether the ink affects the photos or not I don't know, but they do call the S800 a photo printer. Without being able to compare the two head to head, I decided to save the $100 in price difference and I have no regrets whatsoever. I would also say that while I don't consider the S600 a "fast" printer like the reviewer who was dissatisfied with his, I wouldn't say it's slow either. I'd say it's just about right.Overall I am extremely pleased with this printer and would recommend it to anyone. The price is right and the pictures are wonderful. I really like to read all the reviews I can on a product before I buy it and put a lot of weight into what other customers think about their purchase. So there's my two cents, that's what you wanted right?

An Absolute Steal,
By
This review is from: Canon S600 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I needed a printer that could handle my heavy copy while being able to elegantly print out my slew of digital photography. After reading some user reviews and features for the Canon S600, I went ahead and purchased it. And it has been unreal. For less than $200, it doesn't make sense to buy another printer. With Photo Paper Pro paper and a digital camera, your images will have unsurpassed quality. The software installs easily, as does the printer itself. The refillable individual color ink tanks are terrific, saving you money in the long run, and the printer is more quiet than a whsiper. Black copy, whether in draft mode or enhanced, looks sharp and professional. Canon has outdone themselves with this printer, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a unit than can match high-quality images with high-quality printouts. The resolution is unbelievable for both color images of your most recent vacation and your crisp resume. Simple, affordable, quality -- it's perfect.

Amazing Printer !!!,
By RJ Samonte (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Canon S600 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I purchased this printer based on Cnet.com's review of it. It's their number one printer by the way. Everything they said was true about this printer and more. This printer is the quietest printer ever, along with fast print speeds, and exceptional quality. I've never been so satisfied with a product like I am with the Canon S600. And to top it off, this printer has the best ink system and lowest ink cost in the market today. I absolutely recommend this printer to anyone and everyone for home and business.

Fast but not a photo quality printer....,
By A Customer
This review is from: Canon S600 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I will agree that this printer is fast and it does a good job of printing text and graphics. But there is no way this is a "photo quality printer". I tried myself and with the help of cannon tech. support to get photo quality results, no luck. It just cannot do it!!! I noticed they left the term photo quality off their description on the box - unlike the S800. The S800 clearly states photo quality. The S600 states print pictures, but does not claim photo quality. To me it is like being pregnant, you can print photos or you can't. Why would i want to spend the money on good paper and have a picture that looks like a painting? The detail is just not there. Every picture i printed out (including the sample picture provided on the cd) looked like an artist sketch. I returned this model to BEST BUY and was advised that they had receieved similar complaint/returns because the buyers assumed you could print photo quality prints with this model. If you do not want to print accurate looking pictures, this is a great printer. I wanted to be able to print pictures that i could frame and that could not be detected from photo lab prints. I returned my cannon unit after a week and bought the HP 952C. The picture quality is UNREAL!!!! It is slower but I can wait a few second more (about 30% longer)for quality. It actually cost ten dollars less. I wanted to write this because I looked at the previous reviews and they influenced me into getting the cannon S600. I'm not sure what they were writing about? Comparing photos printed out on my HP 952C to the ones I still have from my Canon, it is a joke. I used the same cannon photo paper and the same picture. Every printer has strengths and weaknesses. The cannon would be great for an office or for printing lots of text because it is so fast. If you ever want to print pictures that look like photo lab quality (or at least will take a while before someone can detect you printed it), forget it with the cannon s600.

Very Good Printer at an Amazing Price,
By
This review is from: Canon S600 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I always thought that if I wanted a printer, it would automatically be an HP, there was never a second doubt especially since my older brother had bought his P1000 in late December and was more than satisfied printing his very detailed 8 x 10 photos in very fine ink on beautiful photo paper. And when I was going to buy my first printer, I was pretty much looking for HP's, but obviously not as [much]as that ..price tag that came with the P1000. And it was then that I stumbled across this S600, with people saying that it rivaled the higher-end HP's P1000 and P1250. I thought I would take a gamble, especially after seeing the price at below.., less than half the price of my brother's printer. Installation was easy, and the printing program is very informational yet simple. But it was the actual printing that I couldn't believe. Very fine prints on 4 x 6 and even 8 x 10 at its highest resolution. They say it can print a photo at 8 x 10 in 90 seconds, but it took a few minutes for my photo and I don't expect any home printer to print any photo with quality that good at that speed. And the more easy black prints come out fast as usual. Ink cartridges will never be very [much] here as my brother's P1000 Photo Cartridge was indeed [a lot] used up very quickly. I don't need a slot for any Memory Card, I really doubt there are people who need a slot in their printer unless they are in a ridiculous hurry, and that is the only thing that P1000 has that my S600 doesn't. The S600 has everything else, and in some cases, does it better than those high-end HP's. Retail stores don't give a listed price because they are high on demand but low in stock. So to find it underneath is already lower than what most of the national retail stores are going to sell it. Buy This Printer if you want a reasonably priced printer that just happens to print things that would usually cost more.

Best I Ever Used!,
By William H Ruting (Lyons, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Canon S600 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
After years of printers - I have used quite a number from Panasonic to HP - this is the best I have ever used! I agree with the reviews about the print quality, color redering, graphics, but what has me sold is the ink supply. I have been using this printer heavily for over three months, and have yet to replace a color tank. When I bought the printer, I also bought a spare set of tanks, based on my experience with other single-cartridge color printers. The spare tanks are still in the original package! And even better, the three tanks together cost less than the single three color tank of my old printer. As for quality, I saw one review which complained about it - all I can say is to use the Canon exhange warranty and try another printer. As for myself, I am doing full-color brochures for my business, and everyone who has seen them asks which print house I used. And this is at the "normal" setting! The 45 second "warm up" is no big deal - and if gives me time to recheck things one last time, to cancel the print job when I discover that little error. The softwware support is also excellent, and the printer status monitor is better than any other I've used. Would I purchase this printer again - absolutely! Would I recommend it to a friend or relative - I have!

What a GREAT Printer!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Canon S600 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
After scouring the internet for product reviews, comparisons, etc on photo quality printers, I saw the Canon S600 at Ritz camera while picking up some prints. After talking with the salesperson for about 20 minutes, and after assurances that I could return it if I was not satisfied, I decided to buy it. My old workhorse, the HP 660c was no longer adequate and I am mostly interested in printing photos from my Sony DS 30 camera.Out of the box the directions for set up were exactly as stated in the easy to understand poster style foldout. The software loaded as stated and I was up and printing in less than 20 minutes. After configuring the printhead and printing a test page, I printed an 8x10 copy of a sample photo that was included in the Canon software bundle. I used heavy glossy photo paper with the printer set to "High" quality print. Although the print speed was slow, the result was nothing short of astounding! I could not tell the difference between it and an actual photo. I have since printed shots from my digital camera and the results are equally as good. Needless to say, this printer will NOT be returned and I couldn't be more pleased with it.

Much better than my HP,
By A Customer
This review is from: Canon S600 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I bought an HP printer last year based on rave reviews at Amazon, and was happy with it until I discovered it couldn't print true red: it comes out as a rusty color. I went to a local electronics store and printed test samples from a half dozen HP's, and they all came out with rust for red. Then I noticed that my photos had a flat, blue tone. I've been thinking of buying a new printer, and was getting ready to buy an Epson, then checked this Canon out. It's a good value, the software that comes with it is really intuitive and easy to customize, and it prints red. So far I'm very happy. At first the photos weren't great, but with some customization of the settings (to "fine") they're now high quality. I'll try some different papers to see if I can boost the quality even higher. Much better overall than my HP though. Nice to have red again.
