5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent all-purpose printer
This printer is incredibly fast. Text pages literally come popping out. Color graphics take a little longer. Very sharp black text. Decent graphics on plain paper. Excellent photos on cheap bargain glossy photo paper. I haven't tried Canon photo paper pro yet. Easy to set up and use. I especially like the auto-power feature - the printer turns on when it's needed...

3.0 out of 5 stars Printer Heads
I bought the s750 within the last year, and it stopped printing black lnk. The Technical desk informed me after trouble shooting that the head was most likely bad. To my dismay when I took the printer in to an authorized service center there were three more S750 waiting for a new printer head. The repair tech informed me that he has repaired alot of the S750 series. Maybe...

I especially like the auto-power feature - the printer turns on when it's needed and turns off X minutes later (this needs to be set up in the printer properties).
Also, very important, Canon support in the past has been outstanding. I once had a problem with my Canon scanner, and after 10 minutes on the phone with them, they over-nighted me a replacement scanner. All I had to do was to put my old scanner in the box and call UPS for a pick-up. All shipping was paid by Canon, didn't cost me one dime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent printer for the photos..., April 12, 2002

This review is from: Canon S750 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
Last week I was debating between the Canon S750, HP 1115, and [other printers]. This is my first color printer and I planned to use it solely for photo printing. I have an HP ... that has not broken down for 7 years. Based on that reliability and quality, I was leaning towards HP. However, based on online pro reviews, [other printer] was tops among the three. I based my decision for selecting Canon on the following:

(1) Affordability
- This is the best [$] color photo printer out there that has separate ink cartridges and at 2400 x 1200 DPI. When you buy one, it comes with 4 FULL color ink cartridges. At first I thought Canon would put inks that are only 50% full as a sample like others. The one I got had the full cartridges and I was not dissappointed with the performance (see below). In addition, you can buy a refill kit. The best one out there is by Stratitec. Right now, they only sell to [retail store]. I hope Amazon carries them soon. Too bad there is no USB cable, but you can easily buy one for [$]... More on affordability. If the printer head breaks down, you can buy the printer head cartridge that is replaceable. I'm not worried for I paid for the 3-yr no hassle warranty. By that time, I should have enough money to pay for a dye sublimation printer. But again if this does not die like my 4L, then there's no need to replace

(2) Photo Quality
- I was amazed at the quality of the photos I printed. I tried different settings. After 8 trials of different settings and photo paper, I finally got the best combination out of the printer. Yes it is true that the ink will rub off if you rub hard enough or drop glue in it. But it is the same with ANY photo inkjet. Even the high end Canon inkjet photo printer also rubs off and their sharpness is identical to the best setting for Canon S750. Why spend ]$] to [$] more on high end photo printer? If you want studio quality just buy the [low cost] non-inkjet photo printer.

(3) Performance
- This is the biggest surprise. In my first night, I printed 24 (yes twenty four) 7" x 9" high quality photos and 3 4x6 high quality photos. Believe me, I am worried of running out of ink that I keep monitoring the ink level on each print using Canon's software. After the 24th print, I thought the printer might be defective or the software buggy for the ink levels still show that there is still about 90% left of the magenta and black, 95% of the cyan and yellow. The photos I have printed were 50% pink, 20% black, %10 yellow, 5% green, and 15% other colors. I was expecting magenta to be way low. But when I physically checked the ink level on the printer. Wow! it is indeed still around 90%. I think I hit a jackpot on this one. In my calculations, my cost per 4x6 print is around 12 cents (5 cents for the ink and 7 cents for using the high quality Kodak Photo paper). Dont believe the hype about using Canon paper. The high end Kodak worked better than the sample glossy papers Canon provided. More on performance. This printer is FAST. It's 7x9 photo is faster than my 10 year old dot matrix when that prints a full page of text.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brochures I printed are gorgeous!, May 21, 2002
By
This review is from: Canon S750 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I own a medical transcription service and after talking to Kinko's (outrageous prices) and local printers for a brochure run of 500, I decided to follow advice of friends who own a Canon S600 and purchase the S750 (for the price of a run of 500 brochures) and print my own. The results are fantastic. I get to change the text, pictures, and layout after printing just one and don't have to run back to the printer or Kinko's. After printing 500 double-sided 8 1/2 x 11 brochures with color printing plus lots of black and color borders on both sides with three photographs, the software is just now telling me it is low on black ink and cyan. And all I have to do is replace those tanks not the WHOLE THING. I now have plans to do postcards, business cards, and flyers. I am delighted with the product and its performance and I am delighted with Canon customer service who even went as far as helping me enable the USB ports on my computer. Recommended--highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Printer, March 19, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Canon S750 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I ordered my Canon S750 printer, after my HP's color cartridge blead one color into the other, before Amazon had them in stock relying on the Canon name to give me a good product and I wasn't disappointed.Setup was a breeze using the setup guide, about 30 minutes from box to printing. This is a great printer, very fast quiet printing with clear text and color on plain paper.Have not tried photo paper yet.The paper feed is noisy but very quick. There is a quiet mode you can set that is just a whisper but it slows the printing. You just have to love the separate ink tanks, you don't have to throw out because one color is out like my old HP.This is a fine printer with software features to help with picture printing. My one complaint is no USB cable included.Order a Belkin F3U133-06 USB cable from Amazon as they are costly at the local E-store.Parallel port is slow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great printer...at an even greater price, May 12, 2002

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Canon S750 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I did my research to find a relatively inexpensive color printer that would print photos that actually looked like originals. There are a lot of options available, but with a price tag that made me cringe. Then I found the Canon S750. This printer lives up to the Canon name and creates realistic images that are every bit as good as the original...sometimes even better. Colors are sharp and vivid and frankly, way beyond my expectations. Print times are quick, even with digital images that ordinarily would take forever to reproduce. I tried several types of photo paper and every time I was happy with the results. Text documents print almost instantly and again, the image is sharp and clear. Its also a nice feature that the ink tanks are separate so you can replace them individually as they run out. Canon supplies a full set (instead of a 50% full starter set) that should have you printing your heart out as soon as you set it up. Set up was quick and painless and I was printing literally within minutes of taking it out of the box. Make sure you buy the appropriate cable for your system (parallel or USB) because its not included.

All in all, I am extremely happy with this purchase and it was WELL worth the money. If you are looking for a printer that can produce quality photos, look no further.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Output....and FAST, March 16, 2002

This review is from: Canon S750 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
When my Epson Stylus Photo 800 went south, I thought it was going to be hard to find a printer to match it's output and quality. I spent considerable time doing my homework on inkjet printers. I wanted great photo output and my wife wanted great text. I reviewed and tested HP and Epson printers in stores but they all had something I didn't care for such as combined ink cartridges whereas you run out of magenta (red) and you toss the whole cartridge. The Canon S750 has individual cartridges ... . I settled on the Canon S750. After many prints of Word documents, pictures, CD labels, photos, I have found the Canon a sure winner in my book. I did goof on setup by misunderstanding the head alignment instructions. I called tech support and a knowledgeable and friendly person worked the problem and agreed the instructions could be a little clearer but my simple problem was solved. Hats off to Canon, this printer is awesome!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Printer on the Market., June 29, 2002
By
This review is from: Canon S750 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
This printer is incredible - especially when it comes to the ink cartridges. I will actually buy replacements. I have had this printer for 4 months and I finally had to replace the black ink cartridge. This is compared to a new EPSON C60 I owned in which I had to change the ink cartridge every two weeks.

I was looking for a printer for which I could do ink refills. The Cannon does not use smart chip ink cartridges, which are extremly hard to refill I threw my EPSON printer away after 3 months and replaced it with the S750. Everything about the S750 printer is excellent: good print quality and fast printing. The bonus is the ink cartridges - they last a long time and they are refillable, but like I said at the beginning the Cannon S750 ink cartridges last long enough for me that I will buy a new one when they need replacement.

As far as I am concerned this is one of the nicest printers around, easy to use and excellent quality printing. Cannon is not building a printer in which they will make a ton of their money off the refills (compared to some of the other mfgs). Instead they will get a lot of excellent references and very loyal customers. I can't think of a better way to grow a business. If their printer business represents the rest of their product line then I am a loyal Cannon consumer. I will look to Cannon first before I look at other brands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I wanted, December 15, 2002
This review is from: Canon S750 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I wanted a decently priced inkjet that could handle printing out word processing documents and web pages quickly in black and white, but could also pump out quality 4x6" color photos that I take from my digital camera. One need didn't really dominate another, so I wanted something that could do both well. I did a lot of reading on printers before making my purchase, and even though the consensus was that Epson and Hewlett-Packard still dominate the industry, I went with a Canon because of its excellent price and good reviews on the s750. I'm glad that I did.

Rule #1 of buying a printer is that over the lifetime of the printer, you're going to spend a heck of a lot more on ink cartridges and paper (especially photo-quality) than you are on the one-time cost of the unit. I don't know how much of Canon's push "long-lasting ink formula" is marketing, but the s750 does have excellent reviews when it comes to using ink and that's how I become first interested in the unit.

I haven't owned an inkjet printer for years but I consider myself pretty technology-savvy. Installation is a breeze for anyone. If you are considering buying a printer, you have probably come across this already, but I'll throw it out anyway: I don't know of any printer that comes with a USB cable, so if you want to use the USB interface on this printer or any other, you'll have to pay for that too. By the way, the USB interface on the printer is a smaller, cave-shaped port (not the same rectangular interface found on PCs). It literally took me five minutes to get the thing plugged in, printer head and ink in, software installed, and ready to print. The driver for the printer is automatically in Windows XP but it will ask you for the CD anyway.

Quality is great! I just did a 4x6" with the sample five-pack of Canon paper that came with the unit and it looked just as good as the prints I order from Costco. Another tremendous thing about this printer is the number of options within the properties area of the printer. You can apply lots of different optimizations to enhance your photo without owning a really good graphics editing program (although I recommend Paint Shop Pro if you want one!).

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW, April 18, 2002

This review is from: Canon S750 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
this is a great printer. I was thinking of buying the canon s820..Then i compared that printer to the s750.. The s750 is faster and has double the amount of black ink. It also has more memory 264kb. The s820 only had 80kb. The s820 alos had 2 more inks.. photo cyan and photo magenta. I think this is the printer to buy PLUS its ... cheaper. It was easy to install, only took a few mon. BUY this printer!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Better Canon printer, March 19, 2002
This review is from: Canon S750 Color Bubble Jet Printer (Office Product)
I just bought this printer to replace my old Canon, which I've had for 5 years. I like the Canon printers because of the indivdual ink tanks. The ink cartridges are bigger on the new model, so they should last longer. The colors seem to be more accurate and brighter, too. The S750 is a lot faster than the old model and much quieter. It is also better at printing envelopes. I always had trouble with the old one with getting envelopes to feed correctly. The S750 was easy to install and can be used with a parallel cable or USB.
