2.0 out of 5 stars Bummed a Bit
Bought this for my wife -
All though she is not a pro at picture taking she do take quite a lot of photos. she received this as a Mother's Day gift to replace an old HP printer she had. She was looking forward to printing some 4 x 6 photos after reading the reviews here and was not very happy with the results.
Set up was easy and that is where the honeymoon...

I am a professional wedding & portrait photographer...specializing in quality artistic imagery. I did A TON of research online looking for an affordable, quick, and quality printer to allow me to print 4"x6" souvenir prints for wedding reception guests. I purchased this little yellow bucket Canon printer about 3 weeks before I had a big Bridal Expo and was excited to try it out on shopping Brides...giving each Bride who stopped by my booth a chance to get photographed and take home a souvenir print. I was a little nervous...since I'd never EVER done on-location printing, let alone on a new product and experimenting on 3000+ potential new clients. ...I was amazing at that little printer...it ran, pretty much non-stop, for 6 hours...printing back to back. I ended up printing about 200 prints that day.

I used a Canon 5D mark II camera, wirelessly triggering a strobe studio light, hooked up by cord to the Canon Selphy printer...and would just the direct printing option via the playback on LCD screen.

Pros: Small & portable, SUPER easy use (print directly by Canon camera, or plug in memory card), good quality prints

Cons: It took a little longer than I expected each print would take. I was printing directly from my camera and didn't realize until beginning that I wasn't able to take another picture until the current image was done printing. That was a big draw back when I had a very long line of Brides waiting for their turn to be photographed. I didn't time it exactly, but I think it look a minute or over to produce each print.

Considering the other products in the price range, this was the perfect printer for the job...I just need to order a second one and have two cameras going the next time I have such a large event.

Excellent printer. Very low cost per print if you get the paper online. I ordered two of the 108 print packs for $50.00 delivered. .23 cents per print. Outstanding. It has pc hookup, takes all the major flash memory cards for pc free printing. It also has bluetooth capability and can run off of a battery.

Cons: Very tacky color.

Just purchased this off another website.. Saw it on amazon and thought id comment..

Its a really nice printer. Relatively inexpensive for consumables, fast, and everything is pretty much self contained... Printer in a can, the picturebucket... heard a few terms for it.. It prints a really nice picture reasonably fast, and much more durable than most off the shelf inkjets with their standard ink. I tend to use their image software to preprocess the pictures for output and it does a nice job (though you can always use Photoshop or Elements for more advanced manipulation)

Also you do not have to worry about clogged cartridges due to lack of use.

Some caveats... wish it had feet/a bit more raised when placed on a tabletop (it really needs to be a little taller, and not just sit on its plastic base .. you cant use the printer WHILE its in the storage bucket.... Also be warned the printer has to have almost the same clearance on the back as the tray takes on the front.. the printer ejects the print out the back to process each layer of the image and clearcoat. (Ill admit though that once you realize this, it does have a certain Oh Cool factor to layering the image)

Also it does NOT come with a Bluetooth adapter or battery and both are somewhat pricey options in relation to other vendors products for a similar accessory. If BT and/or WIFI were built-in, it would make it extremely convienient BUT it does come with SimpleIR/IRDA

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Portable Photo Printer, January 21, 2009

I really like this printer a lot. It's easy to use. Using this printer as a stand-alone printer via the memory card slots, you can get good-looking prints without a computer. But connect it to a PC using the included Image Browser software, the prints are even better-looking in my opinion. And with the optional battery pack which I bought with the printer, you can truly print anytime, anywhere in a instant. Highly recommended!

I've had this printer for about a year and absolutley love it. It is so easy to use and I love that the ink and photo paper are sold together so there is no guess work on whether I will have enough ink to do another picture. I also love that I can make pages with several different pictures on them at once. Makes scrapbooking and sharing pictures easy, fun and cheap!

This was a gift to a mother who had a new baby and needed to send pictures to family members. They don't have an internet connection and this was the best solution. She loved the printer. I also have one myself and take it on vacations all the time for postcards.

It was real easy to set up the printer, basically you just plug it in and insert the card. My only complaint is that it didn't have any ink to print the pictures! I had bought the paper, and when I tried printing, the message said "no ink" - this eventhough it said in the instructions that it comes with enough ink for at least 6 pictures. A bummer!

This is an awesome product. Ad Amazon offers it at an even more awesome price.

I take a lot of pictures, but I am very lazy when it comes to printing them. I love that I can instantly have hard copies in my hand whenever I feel like it. As a scrapbooker, this printer has come in very handy -- esp when I don't have the patience to print bulk orders at a print site.

Set up was extremely easy. Pretty much plug and play. Print quality is SUPERB. It's like professional if not better. The only complaint I have is that sometimes the first 1 or 2 prints are marred with scratch-like marks. It's probably because of dust or something. But, all other prints have been great.

I would recommend this to anyone - in fact, I have. My sister bought it and loves it too.

Easy to use for an inexperienced person. We had a Kodak G600 and we sent more time talking
to someone from the help center in India. The Selphy cp 770 is on the same concept but, works.
we purchased it about 6 months ago for my wifes scrapbooking. My wife has not needed any
assistance, which I like. The pictures are sharp and clear. Cost of use is reasonable. Would a
newer model be better? I doubt it.

This printer is so easy to use! I bought one for myself for a project, and now I'm getting one for my technologically-challenged mother as well. I've used it connected to the computer, plugged into the camera only, and straight from the SD card slot, and each option was very simple to work with. My favorite part is that since it's a sublimation printer and not an inkjet, you buy packs of paper that come with printer cartridges and are guaranteed a certain number of prints. No more running our of ink halfway through a photo! The printing time isn't the fastest, but it's really no slower than my hp all-in-one for printing a 4x6 photo.

Pros:
-Quick setup
-Easy to use
-Decent picture quality
-Wireless capability (although the bluetooth adapter is not included)
-No ink cartridges to worry about

Cons:
-No custom paper sizes
-Bluetooth and battery pack cost extra

Overall, for the price I couldn't be more pleased with this little printer. If you want an easy, no-fuss photo printer that anyone can use, this is it!
