According to the user manual http://pdisp01.c-wss.com/gdl/WWUFORedirectTarget.do?id=MDMwMDAwNjkyODAy&cmp=ABR&lang=EN it does take stills, and it can even take stills while shooting video.

Yes it does have a AC cord and yes the battery life on these is useless. I can do a few small videos and the batt is dead . Would not recommend forts of vacation videos but for short videos around the house it's good quality

The camera uses AVCHD format, which Final Cut Pro X "reads" and works with. The files will transfer to your Mac OK, but you may have issues depending on what program you use to video edit. iMovie (the latest version) apparently reads AVCHD files. However, your safest bet is to get a converter app/program to do this for you. Try wondershare.net, or just google apps that convert AVCHD to .mov. There are plenty out there.

An earlier model used to come with an Av cable which did so. Now it doesn't. You would have to buy one. Fortunately, I also have an earlier version of camera and use its av cable. Sorry

Yes, the Image Browser software for MAC is available on the Canon website. You probably don't need it, as the newer Mac OS will usually let you import the files directly within iMovie

Since I ordered via the Amazon Warehouse as a refurbished unit, no, it did not. But you will be hard pressed to find any device these days with that type of warranty.
