EOS wireless remote options . . .,
This review is from: Canon Wireless Remote Control RC-1 For Canon Digital Rebel XT XTi XSi T1i G K2 T2 Ti EOS ELAN 7/7E 7N 7NE II/IIE (RC1) + Cleaning Kit (Electronics)
A very useful feature of the Canon Rebel series cameras is that they can be fired remotely using Canon's RC-1 controller. The RC-1 was used first with Rebel film cameras, and the same unit is compatible with the various versions of the digital Rebel. Using infrared waves to trigger the shutter, the unit can be set in one of two modes, fire (no delay), and delay (2 second delay in firing). The RC-1 is powered by two three volt, CR1220 lithium batteries. Stated range is five meters or about sixteen feet. Since the RC-1 apparently will also trigger the new EOS 5D Mark II, it should become even more popular. While the RC-1 works very well, and is not a super high cost item, there are other remote trigger units compatible with the Rebel (and other Canon cameras) that provide the same basic functions, at a fraction of the price. These units are manufactured in Asia, and are readily available on eBay starting at about four dollars. While these units work well with the Rebel series, they might not work with the 5D Mark II, so you need to check for compatibility. Canon does not manufacture a wireless remote for their prosumer SLR's, like the 30D, 40D, and 50D. However remote units for these cameras are also available from the same Asian sources. Because these wireless triggers require both a transmitter and receiver, they are more expensive, but do work well, and add a missing dimension that Canon is unwilling to provide.

I'm a Canon guy but this wireless remote is not 100%. It doesn't fire every time, even at three-feet away. It's really hit or miss. Is it possible the supplied batteries are half-dead? We'll see. -TJ

What can you say. Its fine. Made by Canon. I bought it from DBROTH for $18.99 and received a cheap lens cleaning kit.Works as advertised.

Great Product, easy to use, I'm glad I bought the original Canon over the generic because the price difference is not that big and this one is designed to be attached of the camera strap (perfect fit)

This has to be pointed directly at the right side of the camera or it won't go off. No way that it works from the side or behind.
